Hi Everyone,
I have 4 months until my baby boy comes home: )))) I want to start now and make many different toys for him. I would love to hear your ideas on the different kinds of foraging toys I can make for him. Instructions and pictures would be super.
Thanks |

At a lot of the bird stores (or online) you can buy toy pieces and parts. It's a lot cheaper than pre-made toys. Buying pre-made toys for larger birds can get expensive! You can also get cheap toys and toy parts from bird marts, just be sure to sanitize the items throughly.

Besides things made specifically for birds, I'd maybe try Babies R Us instead of Toys RUs.... things made for babies would be more safe for birds too. Just make sure you don't get things that can potentially get the birds feet or head stuck in. That goes for bird toys too Good luck finding some good toys!

Well.. I drilled holes in a wood log and put some treats in those holes. Some holes are deep, others not. |

That's a great idea. Here's a stupid question for you. What kinds of treats do you use? |

A real easy foraging idea is wrap a treat in newspaper and twist the ends so it looks like a candy..lame I know but mine like them.
Yes. Baby toys are great, as are wooden toys.
BTW, you can dye wood with food colouring. Very cheap and easy. |

I hope my grey is different than my tiel. Unless there is food involved my tiel is not interested in ripping anything open. I've wrapped a cracker in a piece of paper towel and she will rip that open. She's not much into toys so don't thing she would do the sane for a toy:( |
