| Feathers at the bottom of the cage! |
|
|
I'm just cleaning Bunny's cage and I noticed there's a few small feathers at the bottom of his cage, I've also seen them here and there on the floor the past week or so. I'm kinda freaking out that he might be picking because the only feathers I've ever seen before at the bottom of the cage have been down feathers. There's no noticeable spots on his body that he might be picking.. also when Bunny first came home he used to chew off his tail feathers and at one point was down to just one feather. But he's totally stopped that and they're all growing in really nicely. When we were at the vet just the other day, he said that Bunny is molting, so is that what the small feathers on the bottom of the cage could be about? Or could he really be picking ?
I'm also gonna post this under behaviour in case not everybody reads this forum. |

Hey Shirin,
Take a long deep breathe!! he he he. Fron what you said, it sounds like Bunny is doing just fine. It sounds like he's actually dropping feathers for the molt. Just sit tight and hang on tight as those feathers drop!! Apollo have lost so many feathers because of his molt. I've got Corella feathers all over the place... oh and also the little budgies too. So my house, well it's full of feathers everywhere!!
If you're not sure. Over the next feel day, feel around his neck area, and see if there's any little new blood feathers coming through, but be careful though you don't want to break them off. The neck area is usually where they molt first. |

I will do that Bih,
I kinda figured he's probably just molting... I do tend to be a bit paranoid because I love him so much and worry about him the way mothers worry about their children, he is like my child after all.. you know what I mean right? |
