Hi Beaves..

Don't give your grey Onions, avocado, chocalate, milk, sugar, salt, alcohol, the stone inside stone fruits, and apple seeds. There are other stuffs, but I can't seems to think of them at the moment.

Is your grey on pellets or only on seeds? It is a good idea to have him on a pellet diet with fresh veggies and fruits and a little bit of seeds. Less sunflower seeds is good. They are fattening for birds. Just like Chocolate to human!! Very Happy

Keep trying different fruits with Pearl. Give it to her differently, hanging, chopped in small pieces, large pieces, strips... Keep trying... I know that it can be so wasteful, but it'll all be worth it. Very Happy

Good luck with Pearl.

Oh, you mentioned that you bought Pearl from Davidraminow, is he a breeder? or did he just sold you his grey? Just curious and wondering. Cheers
Bih.

Hi Beaves,
Toxic foods are:

Alcoholic becerages
Avocado
Caffiene: tea, coffee, or cola drinks
Any food containing concentrated sugar, like candy etc.
Chocolate- contains theobromine, which is toxic to birds and other animals
Milk and Milk products- birds are lactose intolerant
Salty things like chips, pickles, canned foods, lunch meats, etc
Raw or under cooked meat
Rhubarb
Onions

It's more important that your grey eats vegetables than fruits as fruits do contain a high content of sugar and should only be given as treats. Vegetables can be offered fresh, cooked, or steamed, and make sure they are washed really well because of the pesticides they use on them. Greys are prone to having vitamin A deficiencies so foods that contain this vitamin are beneficial. Almonds are a good source for this. A good balanced diet should include a good quality brand of pellets that contain no artificial colours or too much perservatives, sugar, or salt, as well as vegetables. I recomment Harrison's bird food. it has done wonders for my Grey www.harrisonsbirdfood.com Treats such as nuts, fruits, seeds should be offered on occassion and not as a staple in your Grey's diet.
