New TAG Baby  Reply with quote

Hi everyone, I got a TAG baby this week. Her hatch date is April 22 so she is just approaching her 4 months now. She isn't completely weaned but, don't worry I have handfed many many birds and that is the only reason the breeder entrusted me to take her home early. She was eating mostly on her own at the breeders but, now that she is here and everything is so new she has reverted a little and is eating more than the 5 ccs she would take a day at the breeders. Now, she also let me take her under the condition that I weigh her daily until she is completely weaned and also email her daily on how she is doing. She is about 18 weeks now so her time to wean is nearing. Some greys wean faster than others so I will be letting her choose her own pace. So no worries with her weaning I am keeping a very close eye on her. I just wanted to tell everyone I got a timneh. I've been waiting on her about a month and a half and I am so excited to have her. Who else here has a timneh and has anything to share about them?

Congratulations on your new baby! So glad to hear you are going to abundance her at her own pace. Does she have a name yet? I had a TAG in the past. They are just as smart and talented as the congos. Welcome to you both!

Hi Congrts on the TAG, Never had one, We currently have two CAGs, the first one we handraise, the second one we just adopted less then two week ago... We are still taming him down but he is going to be as sweet as the first one. The Vet give him a clean bill of health today..

One thing I did find different with my TAG is that he talked quieter. His tone was softer. Whereas my Smokey (CAG) can really turn up the volume sometimes. Especially when she's doing her giant budgie impression!.Laughing But don't know if that had anything to do with his being a TAG or if it was just his personality, or if it's a male vs female thing....

Hi and thank you for the welcome. I have not picked a name yet. I was thinking once I get to know her better and she starts bonding to me I will have an easier time thinking of a name for her. I have heard that timnehs don't talk as loud and also that they are more outgoing than the congos. I guess I will find out first hand! I feel a little guilty as she seems to miss the lady who was raising her. They spent a lot of time together cause she was with her almost all day from when my baby was 3 weeks old. So my baby is a little sad. Crying or Very sad
