One tiny step in Kaylee's progress  Reply with quote

Kaylee had a visit out to our computer room today and sat out with me for awhile. Well not on me but on the doggie gate. She will step up but she growls to let you know she doesn't like it. We still have her in a small parrot cage sitting on the table in the bird room. This way she has to be close to us when we are sitting in there. She loves to try everything we are eating at supper. I usually make her come with me out of the bird room at least 2 to 3 times a day. When she comes out of her cage she braves climbing over to sit on top of Tank's cage so she is making progress....just slow. I do have to leave Sarah Beth locked up when Kaylee is out because she likes to swoop down at her. Sad

I agree totally Lynzi. She is going to be a hard bird to tame. She tests my skills(not that I have a lot) of patience. I felt so bad when Sarah dive bombed her and knocked her off the cage and she went onto the floor. She was okay but shaken. She actually loves watching all the other birds and wants to fly sooooo bad but her wings were clipped when we got her. Plus if she could fly we would never be able to get the little stinker to tame her..... Laughing Laughing Laughing I could picture her flying around the room growling.

Kaylee was funny tonight. We had pork chops for supper and she really loves meat. I stuck the bone up by her cage and she snatched it up and went to knawing away.......it was truly hilarious. Laughing Laughing Not sure I spelled knawing right...... Very Happy Very Happy

I'm glad to hear that Kaylee has been spending some one on one time with you, away from all the others for a bit Very Happy .

You know, this probably is one of those times where having clipped wings is a benefit. I imagine if she could fly, it could be quite difficult.

Sounds like you're doing great! Good thing you have so much patience Very Happy

I really don't have a bunch of patience Embarassed It seems to help her be a slight bit more sociable(very slight) by being away from the bird room.

Her other latest thing is when I give her a clean dish of water she throws all her foot toys in there. Laughing Laughing Laughing

Cathy,

Yes you are right about that, It would be real hard to tame her or work with her at all. There is a time and place for everything.... But she wants to fly so bad...... poor little girl. But we can not afford to have a bird not tamed loss in our bird room.... Shocked Shocked Shocked
