Hey! I like the pics on your updated homepage! some of them are kind of dark, but can still be seen somewhat.

If Pearl doesn't seem to be breathing well, I really would get her into see a vet. If you can't find an avian vet, any vet would be better than none. Lung problems in birds can be very serious, especially if not treated right away.

Hi beaves, Cathy is right, you need to take Pearl to a veterinarian. We can't really offer you any medical advice as we are not vets, but as Cathy has mentioned respiratory problems can be quite serious in birds as they have extremely sensitive respiratory systems. Please take her to the vet ASAP.

Hi Beaves! Thanks for letting us know about the homepage update. The photos are great.. Smile
As for the breathing: Please consult an avian vet.. We're not really knowledgable about these issues. Also it's hard to judge the health by your message. Sad

Please let us know what the vet says! Wink

Why does it hurt you if Pearl is a girl? Anyway, I don't think beaves knows for a fact that Pearl is a she, because the only way to tell is by DNA sexing, and you already said there's no vets where you live, right?

David, most Greys don't like being touched on their backs, so don't worry. Mine doesn't like it either Smile They love getting scratches on their head and around their neck, but even if she still doesn't let you do that, it's ok, it's still really early on in your relationship for her to completely trust you. Just hang in there, before you know it she'll be begging you for head scratches Smile By the way, does she let you pick her up, or step-up on command?

Dear Shirin  Reply with quote

Yes she sometimes let me carry her from some places pretty easily but other places like the stand terribly hard. The parrot lets me scratch her head and her neck but through this operation I might get bitten. Can u understand that..? I feel on top of the world when she says koko as I approach her and starts petting her,,, then I feel really down as she gets scared and bites me. May be she is still not fully secure so she needs petting but gets scared because of the slightest thing. Check her homepage BTW. You know, she is pretty smart and comes down her cage, walks over to me on the floor as I am sitting near by. She sometimes fly when I am not in her room and flies to where or near I am . I do not know what to do. Patience I can give no problem because I am really attached to this angel..very very much. She sleeps in my room now. It is like I am spending with her every moment I am home..Will she ever make me feel safe to touch her or every time I will be scared to get bitten... I am very much in deep love with her Shirin. Even my wife loves her very much. Remember when I wanted to exchange the sweet little parrot Rolling Eyes

Hi David Smile
The fact that she flies to where you are, and climbs down her cage and walks over to you (mine does that too Smile ) definitely shows that she likes you and wants to build a relationship with you. I think the biting thing is that she's testing you and wants to know what she can get away with. How do you react when she bites you? My Grey went through a biting phase, everytime I picked her up she would start biting on my fingers as if they were her perch Shocked OWCH. What I did was, every time she bit me, I would put her down and walk away from her and totally ignore her for about 10-15 minutes, and then try picking her up again. If she bit again, then i would put her down again and walk away. Soon she realized that she wasn't getting the reaction she wanted out of biting me, because you know parrots love attention. After about a week or so she completely stopped, and has never bit me since. I think this method might work with your Grey because she does seem to enjoy your company and does want your attention. I would even recommend putting her in her cage and going to a different room where she can't see you for 15 minutes. You will notice she'll probably call out for you and beg to come out of her cage.

Anyway, patience is good Smile you seem like you love her to pieces, and I totally understand how you're feeling, because I love my Grey just as much and I know how it can be really hurtful when they bite, because you feel kind of rejected, but don't worry, she will eventually stop if you handle it the right way.

Thank you Shirin  Reply with quote

I am very thankful for these supprtive things you said. You know, when she bites me I talk to her and look at her in a firm way. I do not really know what to do . But I will do just like you told me. It is very helpful having such honest and dedicating friends like you. Please send my regards to your grey... I would very much like to meet him one day. I would like to see some of his videos if you have made any. I am in live with those sweet angels..

Hi Shirin  Reply with quote

I live in Alexandria.. A wonderful city by the see. I wish yo u can come.. If you do We will take you in wonderful tours here my wife and I. We will be very happy receiving you Very Happy . I saw your page and already seen the fours videos.. Really the parrot is a lovely thing. BTW I am facing a problem with KouKa now. Since I got her she is used to stand in the corners of her cage with one leg on the vertical bar and the other clutched on the ceiling bars of the cage.. Do you know by any means a way I can stop this as she is spoiling her wing feathers this way. I tried to stand by the side of the cage and every time she tries this I remove her hand holding on the upper part of the cage. I do not know whether this would help or just decrease the level of trust we are building... Confused ?? I can not keep here forever on top of the cage or on a stand.
