Hmmm, you know what I've heard about those red feathers? I've heard two stories: Both from avian vets.
Please forgive me if I don't repeat them properly.
* Those red feathers can be caused by an inflammation of the follicle.
* Malnutrition
Perhaps it could also be a mutation? I don't know? I know it's quite controversary over here.

yes, some greys can get that due to what you listed...but I think they also breed pied greys...but sometimes it is due to diease
