Hi there, welcome to fluffies. The only way to know for sure what sex your Grey is to have it DNA sexed. There are some suttle, differences, like males are generally larger than females, and they have a bigger, more square head. The female's head is more round, and smaller. But this won't tell you 100% whether you have a male or female.
As far as the age, you can guesstimate it by the colour of the eyes. Babies' eyes are dark grey, and almost look black until they're about 6 months. After 6 months their eyes start to become a lighter grey. By 12 months their eyes should be a very light grey. Between a year and 2 years, their eyes will turn a straw colour, and after they mature, after 3-4 years, the iris will turn yellow.
If your parrot has a leg band, you might also be able to trace his hatch date that way. |

Greys can take months to fully trust you, especially if it's an older one. Give him some time. In the first couple weeks, if he steps up onto your hand, then your doing great! Just don't rush things. Take him to a bedroom, sit on your bed with him, have him on a perch or your arm and talk to him gently. Raise your other hand slowly to touch his head and offer head scratches. Generally they'll lower their head as an invitation for a good scratch as they can't reach their head with their beaks. Good luck!! |

Hi Umnounou.
Welcome to fluffies. Sorry I really don't know much about the African Greys behaviours, so I really can't help you. but I'm sure someone will. Chaquita's mum has already given you some good advice. Please keep us updated with his progress.
Oh and also I have move your topic into the African Grey's forum. Cheers
