Hi, no I did not have the DNA done but the breeder said it was a she I will have to find out wheter he had DNA done or how he knew.

I feel quite sad cause I had to go away for businees for 2 days hope she will be ok alone I left alot of food and water and some treats......

I will take some more photos ...

O one more thing she still does not step onto my hand but onto a stick or perch... then she will sit with me with no problems.

I have one slight problem though she climbs to the top of the cage and when it is bed time does not want to come doen it takes A LOT of negotiating to get her down any ideas here ??

Cheers

Hey Sue, yes some of the colleague just aren't animal person full stop!! So they are just aren't interested in birds at all... though I have two workmates that are really into birds... one just a general interests, basically looking at them and stuff.. she doesn't own a bird though. Another one, he's a big nature watcher, he can tell me the places where I can go and see different parrots in the wild that I didn't even know existed in Perth!!

Herbert... are you going away? or have you gone away? sorry just wanna clear that up. Did you or are you planning on having someone checked in on the bird to make sure that everything was ok? I generally won't leave a bird home alone unless it's only during my work hours... and if I am going away, I would take him over to my parents house. This is so, if anything does happens, like an accident or a fall or something, at least then, your bird will be able to get medical attention asap, and not have to wait for you to get home is all.

Herbertk, I've had to go away & leave my 'tiel alone for a couple of days before too. Not for very long at a time tho, I'd leave like some time on Fri afternoon & be back Sunday eve. I wouldn't be gone any longer than that without having someone come in to feed & water her, or I just woudn't go.

If you must leave her alone, I suggest leaving a radio, or 24 hr TV on for her, but not too loudly as to disturb her sleep. I've found a great cable TV channel that plays soundscapes 24/7. Drives me nuts, but the birds seem to like it, especially after a shower Very Happy And perhaps a small light on in another room that she can see a little bit.

You might want to look into perhaps paying a close trusted neighbor a little bit just to go in once a day to check on things for you. Even if you don't trust the person to open the cage to feed her, she might just enjoy the company.

Hi Herbert, I take my birds with me a lot. I find them more easy when they're in another environment. Strange?
