Aww Spirit is gorgeous!! The beak doesn't look too bad, I've seen some really bad ones just coz the owner can't stand the bites.. it's just so sad.. Am glad that Spirit is now in a new home with loving and caring mommy... |

YAY SHELLY!!! I'm soooo happy to know that you got Spirit!! It just made me sick to my stomach to see his beak like that People can be so cruel!! I can't imagine what he went through when he got that done to him He is a very beautiful bird though, really nice coloring. I CAN'T WAIT to hear all his updates!! He's a very fortunate bird to get a mommy like you
I absolutely LOVE his name! It suits him well |

We went to the vet today! I just got back. With him flying into the window I knew I could not wait any longer. For a new bird heathy check up, wing clip, nail clip and a beak shapping, I was looking at $75. The vet let me pay half now and half later. He is starting to think that the beck may just grow out! The lower beck was so over grown it was not letting it the uper beck grow at all. Other then that he looks vary heathy! The biggest TAg he has ever seen at 337g. When the vet was done he hide in my arms and gave the vet dirty looks. Right after the grooming the vet started asking me questions. After about 10 min. of what are you feeding and how are you handling this he told me that I was doing ever thing just right and to keep up the good work! Right now Spirit is sitting in his cage grooming himself after the trip. I must say he is looking less and less like that scruffy bird I brought home. |

Awww, that's great to hear that he's going to be all healthy and the upper beak may grow back again. That's so cute that he hid in your arms. That shows that he trust you and have bonded with you!! Keep up the good work!! morepics please. |

That's great to hear Shelly! Did the vet trim his lower beak to allow his top to grow? Just make sure he has a few rough surface perches so while his beak is growing, he can gradually grind the sides down to a point. I'm also happy to hear that his feathers are looking better. Just keep up with the spritzes and showers. A happy bird will groom themselves better. Chaquita's feathers looked not very well kept when I brought her home last summer and within weeks she looked like a brand new bird I also learned that you can wash them with tear free baby body wash or shampoo. Just make sure you rinse well. It will bring out a new shine and wash off any possible build-up on feathers.
Keep up the good work! |

Timnehs are such awesome birds. They are more outgoing then congos and react better to change. I am so glad that you rescued him. He will give you years of joy. Can't wait to get one of my own. |
