We just came back from the vet, and Bunny
HATED
it!!!!! He screamed so much And he hates going in the car too, on the way there he got a little motion sickness and threw up So he's happy to be home. The Doctor said he looks really good, and said that his diet is perfect. We did DNA testing for viral infections, hopefully he's a healthy baby.

Oooooh no! Poor little guy! Boy, I bet you're already dreading the next visit, LOL! Well, that's too bad, but hopefully he wont have to go to the vet very often.
So sorry to hear it didn't go well, but very glad to hear he seems in such good health |

Ohhhh poor Bunny!
Thing might be that he is just screaming, and if you reward him (I mean comforting him!) it can be worse next time.
Sorry I didn't tell you this before!
Poor thing, threw up in the car. How did you have him travel? What kind of carrier do you use?
Could he look out of the windows?
Good to hear that the good Doc liked the way he looked! |

Well, I couldn't really comfort him I kinda just stayed back and cringed the whole time. My poor Bunny. I know he was just being a baby about it, because he doesn't like to be touched by anyone other than me, and he sure doesn't like towels, even though I've tried getting him used to them by playing peek-a-boo with him. And when they were doing the DNA testing for diseases, they took him to another room, but I could hear him screaming all the way from the waiting room
I have a pet carrier for him.. it doesn't have a perch, so he was slipping when the car moved, so that's probably why he got sick. I have to get a bird specific one with a perch. They just didn't have any at my petstore when I brought him home so they gave me this one. On the way back though I just let him lay on my chest and he calmed down quite a bit and was actually quite curious about the passing cars out the window.
On a lighter note, he looks soooo cute with his shiny black newly groomed beak!

Hi Shirin.
Though it might sounds harsh, it was probably the best you could have done: Not comforting him..
In this way, you don't confirm that there is something to be worried about.
Was he sick on the way back as well?
Was his beak groomed? Was that necessary? |

Sorry Shirin, but your bunny seem's to be bonded with you so much!,which is great, that he might have been screaming for
you
!!!Maybe next time ask if you can be
present
to reasure
bunny
that it is alright where ever he is going. In my opinion he might not scream so much if you are there with him.For having a person that does trick's with me that l don't know is not much fun, compared to having my master who play's fun games with me the same way(comfort zone l call it)your it's comfort zone.. |

Hi Greg..
I think the best (But this is just my opinion) is not to reassure 'actively'. (This might reinforce his fears as it comfirms that there's something to be afraid of!)
Just be there for Bunny would be nice.. (In his presence)
Just my opinion.. |

No he didn't get sick on the way back. I think it was just the moving around in the pet carrier the first time around, but on the way back I held him and he was clinging on to me so tight, so he was ok.
Well, the vet said that the tip of his beak was a little on the long side and also a little was chipping of the surface so he made it all smooth. (I guess beaks are like nails, never stop growing?) It was the first time getting his beak groomed.. why? was I not supposed to let him do that ? |

No no, I was just curious. My parrots never had this..
So that's why I was asking.
Does Bunny chew a lot? (On wood?) Perhaps this can prevent a next beak 'trim'.. |

Yeah, bunny chews LOTS! He loves to chew on wooden toys
Do your birds get their toe nails groomed? Bunny minded that more than his beak. But I think that might be kind of necessary. Looloo's nails aren't groomed at all cuz he's so young, and they're like needles! I would worry that they would get caught in the rope perches. |

Oh.. I am surprised! Bunny chews a lot, and still he had to have his beak trimmed?
Oh well, please don't mind me, I am not an avian vet.. (I don't pretend to be either LOL!)
Yes, my birds get their nails trimmed. I do that myself, and they don't really enjoy it, yet they tolerate it.
They aren't angry afterwards..
What you can do is take a nail file & lightly file the nails.
You can get them used to this by making it a game.
I don't think a 'too would mind as they generally love to be touched anywhere! Misty loved helping me while I was filing her nails: I grabbed one of her feet, and she would help me with her beak.. |
