| What should I expect for his age |
|

My TAG is 7months young, just wondering what to expect from him in regards to his age. He does the up & down command well. Has not bite me yet. |

What do you mean, expect from him? Like talking? I don't think you can ever expect them to talk..
Most CAGs will, but not all..
You can start to learn him tricks if you want? |

I got my Grey when she was 5 months old. At that time she already knew step up command, and she knew a few words. At 7 months not much had changed. She had learned a few more words, but once she hit a year, she really started picking up words and phrases, and her words became clearer sounding. She's never really been a biter. She went through a phase for about 1-2 weeks when she was younger where she would bite my hand when she was standing on it, as if it were a perch. But she stoped that very quickly. I guess at this age what you should focus on is developing a strong bond with her, and also socializing her to different people, and different pets if you have any. I didn't take the time to socialize my Grey with different people, and now she's extremely shy and nervous around new people |

I have to agree with Shirin on that one for sure. Socialization is very important if you want a friendly to others kind of bird and a bird that doesn't startle easily. Carry him around with you while you do chores and stuff like picking up around the house, vaccuming, doing the laundry. Laundry is a good one, especially if you fold it in front of them. There they have this object being jossiled and flinging about as you're folding. That will get them used to things moving quickly around them. Chaquita will sit on the laundry basket and watch me without a flick of a wing One thing I don't recommend is having them with you while you are cooking. Too many risks there.
Also, when you get guests that come over, if they're brave enough, see if he's willing to go to someone else. Give him a treat and praise and give the person holding your bird a treat to give. Then he'll see others as something rewarding. Just make sure that person always has a treat in hand |

Mickie funny you should mention that! Bunny LOVES folding laundry with me Actually sometimes when she's being a pain and doesn't want to step up, I say "if you step up we'll go do the LAUNDRY", and she steps up right away! The trouble is she doesn't just sit on the basket like Chaquita She likes to participate in the folding part, and... ehm... well lets just say I have a lot of socks with holes in them |
