| Wing Clipping |

Hi all!!
Just been to vet to introduce my African Grey and he reccommended that only one wing should be clipped , yet other advice I have received says that both wings should be clipped to keep balance, both wings are clipped at moment but what is right.

Hi Valerie!
Everything I've ever read says to have both wings clipped to prevent an unbalace & possible injury. |

hi Valerie,
Is the vet that recommended the one wing clipped, is s/he an avian vet?
One wing clip like Cathy mention can cause unbalance of the bird centre of gravity when flying, and therefore causing injury if the bird accidentally fly into things and walls and whatever. I would strong recommend the two wings clip. From all the research I've done and read, two wings are the proper way to go. |

According to most avian vets, two wings should be clipped.. One wing clips can lead to imbalance. Zazu had been clipped on one wing and it wasn't that good. Didn't encounter any dramatic events though. |
