Sure, it can be done as long as the birds get along. Do you currently have a grey and an amazon? Just be real careful with your grey as they are super sensative. Like maybe move the amazon into the greys cage instead of moving the grey into the amazons. Then for a few weeks keep a close eye out for feather plucking and stress.

Hi Karen, thanks for the kind words...

I wouldn't count on two birds getting along that well so that they can live in the same cage..
But, would a split cage be an option? With a divider? (Just a thought?)

Hi Karen,

My recommendation is always never put two different species of the bigger birds together in the same cage! Smaller birds are another story. Unless of course they were brought up together ever since they were little babies, and they get on like house on fire. But then again, you'll never know when hormones would kick in, and aggresion might be a problem.

It's all risky no matter if it's the same species or not. Also consider that if you give it a roomate then all of it's attention could fix on the other bird and leave you out. Possibly lashing out at you. You could no longer be #1 in it's life. I'm not an expert and I only have one amazon, but I have read how they could do this.

I completely concur that you should not put them together.

I am a multiple amazon owner, and my first was a Male BFA and I had a Female YNA - they were great together.. I put them in the cage together for about 2 weeks (they got along great, neither was sexually mature.. etc.. ) but, my BFA fell totally in love with my YNA and she tolerated him.. I was her love and he used to be my love. I removed her back to her cage, and he became in love with Mom again and my Billie girl (YNA) remains in love with her Mom today nearly 8 years later Wink

I have owned: 2 BFA's, 2 Magna DYH's, 1 YNA, 2 Senegals, 10 Tiels (bred them a bit) and Lovies, bred them also. I have cared for a breeding pair of CAG's (The female REALLY wanted to be a pet and not a mate - I loved her) and GCConures. I have hand-raised numerous lovies and tiels, and several Amazon babies Smile

My pets (some of the above were breeders) that are current:
1 YNA Female, 2 Magna DYH's 1 M and 1 F - not together, 1 Senegal and 4 Tiels Smile 1 dog and 3 cats. Welcome to my zoo!! LOL

This is probably too late, but I'm new and had to put my 2 cents on this one Smile
