Cathy,
We are real worried about our baby Amy. If she is not better by noon Carrie will call the Vet again...

John, I'm very sorry to hear that Surely she'll be fine? I know you're both doing everything possible for her.
Awwww, give her big hugs for me & get well wishes.
It's only been a very short while since you've begun the meds, & at least she is still eating. I'm sure once the meds kick in & take effect, she'll soon be eating like normal & it wont take long to gain her weight back. But I agree, keep in touch with your vet.
I'm keeping you all in my prayers! |

Thanks for the concern Cathy. We probably worry too much. I've been sticking everything she likes in her food dish. Finally she ate some peanuts and unshelled sunflower seeds. I called the vets office to let them know our concerns. They are supposed to call me back after she talks to the vet. |

Well, I know about worrying ... but I feel confident that she will be fine, after all, she is an overall healthy, strong bird, giving her the best chances!
Let us know what the vet has to say. |

Thank you, both of you for the concern.
Carrie called the Vet, He seemed a little concerned, but he said to give the Antibotics a chance to work, she did not eat her freash food today, we have switched her to a Seed mix in one bowl and pettels in another. She was not eating the pettels either. She eats the seed mix, we don't like that, but in this case we thought it was right thing to do. Everybody in the bird room where hovering around Amys cage like a bunch of lost sheep when they realized what was in Amys dish.

maybe, though, the extra fatty acids that are in seeds will help her gain even more strength so she can get over her staff infection.......
but I must say that it would be quite a funny sight to see the other birds trying to muscle their way in her cage for those yummy seeds....but the poor girl probably just wanted to be left alone..... |

Thats a good point Lynzi, but honestly I would be happy to see her eating anything right now... She can have all the nuts and seeds she wants.....

This morning Amy would not eat her fresh food. Carrie suggested that I try her training purch. That worked, she would wave hello and I would give her a peanut. Then she would wave again.. It seem to work, at lest she got something in her.... She is down to 485 grams.

Thank you Gemma,
I just wish I had good news, she is still only eating peanuts and then only as a training treat. We put them in her dish and she just looks at them. But I guess as long as we are getting something in her....Thank you again for your concern.
