Well remember me discussing trust issues with Babe? Geez, I don't know what happened to him or me......but leaps and bound of progress has been made lately.
He used to say 'Babe wanna come to Mama?" Like once in a great while... like ok, I'd like a visit now. I'm not doing anything different behaviorally.. maybe giving him a bit more concentrated attention....but EveryDAY half the day he's asking that.. on the Stand or in his cage.. he doesn't care..... I try to come to each of them when they ask, but wow, he's just kind of had a 'coming out party'.
I have been encouraging his talking a bit from the 'other room'.. and then peek in on him and say GOOD Boy Babe if he's still talking.. asking him, are you talking to Mama? What a good job! But again, this isn't any different? I dunno maybe it's the pellets? I don't know if maybe he gets that Dad and I are gonna split soon or if all of it combined, but I'm starting to really enjoy him this last week, more than I have in a long while. Maybe it's just less stress cuz hubby and I were fighting a lot and now that we are 'agreed' on things, maybe he feels better? I dunno, but I'm lovin it
I have been playing Highlights of Phantom of the Opera for them lately. Hubby told me he'd have my head if I ever taught them opera, well now he's moving so I'm playing opera for em LOL I am hearing some 'pitch tests' now and then, so we'll see, it's cute.....although X3 it might not be cute, it might be mirror breaking LOL
Anyway, just thought I'd share the good news. He has ALWAYS been a neat bird and a talented talker, I just felt like I had done something wrong he hadn't forgiven me for, and NOW I don't think it was me or entirely me. I'm happy whatever has happened.. Crosses fingers. |

I really believe that animals can feel our stress. Babe is sensing your relief and is feeling more relaxed and he's showing you just how much less stressed he is I'm sorry to hear about you and hubby. By the sounds of it, you're better off. Who doesn't want to teach their zon's how to sing opera! When you learn that zon's are awesome opera singers, what's the first thing you're gonna do? You're gonna see just HOW good they are Unfortunately I haven't tried yet with Chaquita.........yet. I need to find a good opera tune |

CM,
Thanks! I have heard all of my Amazon owning life that they LOVE The Phantom of the Opera... and I can tell ya tails are flared and eyes are flashing when this music is being played. I don't think it's gonna be long before I start hearing a bit from them.
I LOVE music, and hubby can't handle the noise of them, and while I can't either sometimes, I love em enough to know that it's THEM being themselves, and that's part of why I love them
Our furnace is being funky this year, and it's been getting into the high teens at night here. So I have an oiled filled portable (verified it was safe- teflon free and they have been used over the last 3 years in this house for one thing or another so I know it's not that) for them in front of their cages to be sure they stay warm..... I *THINK* it's kicking off 'spring' for them, even though their 'lights go off' at dusk. I'm hearing all kinds of mating noises and and watching all kinds of spectacular stuff. Time to brush up on my stick training, because next spring is gonna be HEdouble toothpicks on wheels with 3 mature amazons in the house. 1 confirmed male and 1 confirmed female will make this - regardless of Lucy's sex, an interesting spring!! When I told hubby tonight about Babe's new maturity behavior, his reply was, Oh LORD I am glad I'm not gonna be there next spring, he said you are gonna have your hands full. I said yep, and I need to make sure the 'stick training' is reinforced bigtime now, before it gets here! WHEW!
I am very relieved about the divorce. I am sure many find that strange - hey whatever We are friends and have been married 11 years by the time the divorce would be final, but really...friends is all we are meant to be and that's something that will remain when it's over. We both are at peace with it and haven't really fought since we agreed on terms. I think the 'kids' and this includes the 4 legged ones, really are feeling the differences between us. That's healthy for everyone! I'm looking forward to starting my new life and while yes it's sad, it's not as sad for me right now as I have heard for other people. I'm quite sure it could change, but for now, I'm happy and 'they' know it?
Thanks for the support!
Signed: In for a ride in the spring and she knows it! LOL |

Parfie..
I am sorry to hear about you and your husband and that I read this so late..
I have heard that some birds are becoming more active because of the pellets. They play more etc. I have heard that from a member on the Dutch forum that has a galah. |
