Cleo looks much better...  Reply with quote

Just wanted to let ya know that Cleo looks much better and her feathers are growing back. I guess maybe it was the heat or something that was bothering her for that time. I'll wait and see if it ever happens again.

One problem I see coming is when the goose that is living in her flight cage has to go join the other geese. We have been letting the young goose out so he can run and streghten his wing and Cleo has a fit if he goes where she can't see him. Mercy will run around the building and Cleo fusses but then when he comes back where she can see him she settles down. Ii think she might have bonded with him. Ramsey doesn't seem to care one way or the other is Mercy is in there with them. I hope to try Mercy out with the other geese next month when I am on vacation but if it looks like a problem for Cleo ajusting then Mercy may have to live with Ramsey and Cleo in their flight cage Laughing

Glad to hear that Cleo is doing so much better. But it still makes you wonder what caused this right? To prevent it next time..

Could you give Cleo something to focus on when her pal leaves? Like a special toy.. re-arranging the aviary.. Those kinds of things?

Im gonna have to do something , I just never dreamed she would care so much about that baby goose. Well he is grown up now (or at least looks grown) He has stayed in that flight cage 13 feet long by 8 foot wide since he was 8 weeks old so she has watched him grow and even will drop food I think just to feed him cause she will look down and watch him eat it then she goes and gets her more Laughing I might try changing thingssaround cause they have been like that now for a year so good reason to change Wink

Are you serious? Will she do this? I am charmed by this.. Smile
I know it won't be fun to separate them, but I found it charming!

Yes she really drops food for Mercy and I may just let him live in there, it's really not hurting anything but that he isn't with his own kind. i may just wait till I get my duck pond built and all that so I'm sure that will be through the winter at the rate we are going with it. Ireally don't want to upset her.

Hey Dana

So glad to hear the Cleo is getting better with her feathers. Smile

It is so cute that she'll drop food for Mercy! May be she thinks she's the mother or something! Smile so adorable that she'd do that for a goose that's much much bigger than she is!!! LOL

Today I had a few peanuts in the shell I added to their fruits and veggies and she took a peanut and threw it down then picked out another one and ate it. Mercy the goose just loves her doing that. He stands there and looks up. I'll trrrryyyyy to get a picture of it (yea right hua). I still have some baby quail that were born 2 days ago running with their mom and dad that I want to get pictures of too Laughing Later...Dana

I would like to get pictures of Cleo a little closer to Mercy so you could see sboth of them at the same time. She doesn't want him to go out of the flight cage but she doesn't want to get too close to him either Laughing Ramsey doesn't seem to matter one way or the other.

Cleo was funny today as I was checking on the baby quail and my gouldian finches over in the avairy Cleo started talking about the "birds and ball player" I wonder where that came from? Laughing Her old owneres said that she use to talk about 500 birds and sound like she was talking to there neighbor only hearing one side of the conversation. Do ya think it came from that?

I'm goning to try and get my husband to get a picture of me holding one of the quail if I can pick one up without scaring them. The first day they were born they were following one of my blind gouldian finches around on the ground and when their mother started calling me then they went to her. It was so cute cause the finch didn't know they were all around it. I picked up 2 of them and gave them a kiss. They were the size of my thumb Laughing I had to put water in lids of jars on the ground for them as I am scared they will drown in something deeper. Crying or Very sad
