Harness for BFA  Reply with quote

Hi,
I have seen loads of parrots with harnesses on and am wondering if i can train freddy to wear one.
I can just see it being a disaster, lol, he is not that comfy with me touching all under his wings and im sure he will have me if i try and oput it on him!!
Could anyone give me some advice about how they got their parrot to wear one.
Thanks, Luke. Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

I think the main thing would be for you to let your zon get used to seeing the harness before you even consider putting it on him. Have the harness around him where he can see it, and you can play with the harness around him to show him that it is not harmful to him. Hopefully he'll associate it by seeing you touching it and playing with it in front of him. let him feel the harness with his beak when you think he's ok with the harness.. do this over few days, then may be just drape it around his body for a short period of time and make a big fuss about how fun it is and all that.... this may take a short time, or a very long time for your zon to get used to having the harness on him.... Apollo used to let me put the harness on him with no fuss, but now?!?! forget it... he'll make a big fuss and then even after i've got it on, he'll make a mission of his to destroy this evil thing around him!! So now, I just carry him around the backyard in a open top cat carrier where he can see everything around him.

Good luck.
