Hi Lanie

Welcome to the forum

I'm not familiar with Amazon, but Paddy sure does sound adorable with the penguin sound!! Smile And Charlie sounds like a real 'terrorist' of the fingers!! LOL. I guess some birds just take a lot more to work with. Smile

I would love to see some pics too!!
Hope you have fun here chatting. Smile

Take Care

Hello Lanie and welcome to the forum!! I too am an Amazon owner! I'm glad to hear you have a conure too so you kinda have an idea on what it's like to own a parrot Smile

I've had Chaquita, Yellow Nape Amazon, for about 2 months now and I'm a first time parrot owner. I was ready for a parrot because I've done a lot of research, several years worth, and felt ready. All the research I've done has really paid off! Chaquita is 26 years old and been passed around a bit and she was wild caught. She's got some history and I was hoping things would work out for us. She is very greatful to all the attention I give her and you can tell by the trust she has shown in me Very Happy

Did you know that amazons are one of the top 3 talking birds? They are known for singing opera the best. The only things you need to consider, they DO require attention on a daily basis, kinda like a child. You should train with them daily, about 20 minutes in a private area undisturbed with household noises, like a bedroom. Also, they require a low fat diet because they are prone to obesity and a fatty liver disease. I've learned that Harrisons is the best food. No salt, no sugar. Purchase an Amazon book and do lots of research. Believe me, it's better to go in with your eyes open.

Have fun with your new baby and show us some pics! You can see my beautiful 26 year old in my diary Wink

Hi Lanie, welcome to this site, hope you'll have a good time here.

I'm not very knowledgable when it comes to amazon parrots, but I've seen that other people have replied to you about that.. Smile

By the way, have you seen that you can also make your own homepage & diary for Paddy & Charlie?
Please follow the link below to find out how! http://www.fluffies.org/en/viewforum.php?f=32

Have fun here!

Hello Lanie... I to have amazons: 1 that just turned 1 year old this month named Romeo and what a joy he has been this last year. He makes me smile everymoring with all his talking and singing " Old McDonald had a farm somewhere over the rainbow quack quack. Sooo he has the songs running together what do I care, I just love him Laughing My husband says that sometimes he has to look around to see if Im in the house because when Romeo talks he sounds just like me. My husband said the other night Romeo cleared his throat just like I do and my husband thought I had come home and was in the house somewhere Laughing If I would have known that amazons were this fun I would have had them years ago.

My other 2 amazons are "Orange Wings" and they both are said to be 6 years old. I think the one Ramsey that I bought from the zoo is older but not for sure. Cleo I adopted from a very nice family and they also said she was 6. These 2 live outside in a flight cage that they just love.

I have only had my amazonz for about 2 years so I am new to this too. One thing for sure these people on this site can help you if you have any Question so don't be afraid to ask they area a wonderful group of people and I am so happy to have joined them on Fluffies Cool Dana Very Happy
