Hi. Just found this cool forum.
Bought myself a vineacous amazon about 5 weeks ago and he is fantastic.
Friendly, talking well and a great character.
Here is a pic of him...

I am now looking for a friend for him. I fancy either a eclectus female or a DYH amazon.
Which would you go for and why
Thanks

Hi Andy,
you've got a very stunning looking bird. actually reminds me of the king parrots in some ways.
Just wondering have you had any bird experienced before you got your zon? They are great birds aren't they those Amazons. |

WOW. Thanks for the kind remarks guys/gals
His name is Louie.
I am so pleased with him, I love him to bits and think he does me too . He gives me kisses, can not wait to jump up onto my hand and has never attempted to bite me. However he is definately a one person bird as he will not go to anyone else and he warns them off. hehe.
He is 9 months old and has a vocabulary of around 6 words aswell as lovely whistles and other noises. He spends a lot of time muttering to himself, No idea what he is saying but it does sound human like.
I am so so pleased I bought him.
I originally bought a CAG who was very friendly but incredibly quiet..
After only 3 weeks of ownership I came home from work one day to find her at the bottom of the cage, I picked her up and put her back on the perch but to my horror she fell straight back off. Took her straight to the vet and he basically told me she was going to die, which she did the next day.
Took her to the vet to find out why she died but he could find nothing wrong and said she was probably born with a internal problem.
Think this explained why she was so quiet..
This experience was heartbreaking but she gave me so much joy in them 3 short weeks I decided to go a buy another parrot and am now so pleased I did. Thanks to Louie.
I have a couple more pics of Louie below, Not many but I shall be adding plenty more later on. Also pics of all my other pets in there.

Louie. what a nice name.. I've seen the photos you linked.. You've got quite a bunch of animals there! (Please forgive me if I use improper words, I live in the Netherlands)
What's a bengale? Are these cats? Or are these wild cats?
I am so sorry to hear about your CAG.. That must have been terrible! My condolances.. |

Hi Fluffy Sue.
Yep a Bengal is a domestic cat, originated from a cross between a domestic cat and an Asian Leopard Cat.
They are fairly large for a domestic cat. My boy weighs just over 8kg and has some great leopard spots. He has a lovely temperament.

Wow, your bird is gorgeous! Sorry to hear about your cag. My cag is a very vocal bird! As for the question about which bird to choose well I have read up on amazons but really don't know much about eclectus. So get both! I would really look into their breed type and figure out if they would co exist with you and Louie.......aren't eclectus a bit more aloof than amazons? Well whatever you decide keep us all posted! |

Yeah Tia, I have thought about getting both
Problem is I dont really have the room in my house for many more pets so I must try and controll myself
Like you say, I think the eclectus is more aloof than an amazon and the females are prone to biting but I just love the look of the female eclectus.
Maybe a DYH would be a safer bet and theyre not a bad looking bird either.

I do hear that fairly often Fluffy Sue but they are getting more common over here in England. |
