Hello! Baby Jade is a Yellow Nape, 13 weeks old and adorable. She makes the cutest sounds and we just love her!! At what age do these angels begin to try and talk? Jade goes fishing with us every time we go out and we have begun taking her travel cage up to the bridge so that she can see everything. She gets along well with her sisters, Ruby - 10 month old Scarlet Macaw, Ellen - 2.5 yr old CAG and Penny - 3 Yr old long haired chihuahua. We just love this little one and she smells so good!!

Oh! I just realized about your question... A lot of better speaking Amazon species like Napes, start trying to talk even before they're weaned. On the other hand, some Amazons never talk at all. Even species that are known to talk, don't always, but remember all their other great qualities Smile

Hi capt. Sara. Welcome here! Smile
I don't know what the average 'talking' age is for amazons. Some amazons will never talk. Other are very quick, and some might talk after quite some time.
Great to hear that Jade is joining you on your fishing adventures. Do you have photos of Jade, Ruby & Ellen?

Hey, when i got Fred, Blue Front, at 7 weeks old, he was trying to say "Hello" and he could say it clearly by 9 weeks.
Because Zons are really vocal, and if you are trying to teach her to talk, then she could be talking in a few weeks or less!
When i got fred from the breeder, he was (supposedly) weaned. I knew he was young but got told they weaned early??, anyway so he made these little laughing noises, but then he had to grow up. Laughing
