Oh I love that song I sing it Lorito all the time, he can whistle bits of it....I was wondering how old is Romeo?
I am really hoping Lorito will sing the words to it someday soon he is 9 months old.

Romeo just turned 1 year old in August. I don't look forward to the 2 year old stage with him as they say it can be terrible to deal with Dana |

Ha ha ha he also SAYS smart bird? Then he KNOWS about who he's talking! Ha ha ha!
Those amazons are just awesome.. They are so easily provoked to 'giggle'.. I used not to like amazons, but the more I see them, and see their behavior.. (Well, that's not going to happen he he he!) |

Im stting back here in the computer room trying to answer my e-mail and listening to Romeo talk and sing. I have laughed so hard this morning, he is on a roll
Sometimes he sounds like he is holding his nose (LOL beak LOL) and talking. He has learned how to say "Good Morning", but he has such a cute way of saying. He just said " Are you a good bird mama, scratch, scratch, can I have some sugar, (throws kiss) ohhh tha's good sugar, oh my goodness grasaisous. Yall it is so funny Oops there went a " Whatja do that for, and a good boy, good bird . whatja doing this morning? Just too funny.
Oh how I love this bird!!! Oh lordy don't let Newbe think I don't love him and his little "Quack quack quack, and his " Newbe, newbe. He can say that so far. Anyone who doesn't have birds doesn't know what they are missing
Gotta go get moles taken off that Newbe is trying to take off (OUCH), I think the Doctor will be able to do it painlessly (at least I hope ) |

Sue, I'm curious, what was it about zon's that you didn't like?
I am finding out that it's a bit more difficult training Chaquita to talk due to her age. I've heard that it's harder to train to talk the older they get. BUT I have only had her 4 months She's picked up on some stuff and she does try and listens. I love her so much, she doesn't need to talk to make me happy though. |

That's the way I feel about Newbe, if he doesn't talk that will be ok. I didn't get any of my birds because of that, I just got them because there was something about them I fell in love with. Just so happens that I have one who loves to talk, but when he wants to (LOL) ya can't make them Newbe has a different way of talking, not clear like Romeo, but I can understand what he is trying to say.
I was a bit afarid of the amazons too when I read how they can get when they get older. But then we all go through different stages in our lives don't we Gotta go got a zon who wants some sugar Dana |

Oh CM, I don't know what it was exactly.. Perhaps they were green? I don't know? Their beaks? I didn't feel attracted to them like my attraction to cockatoos.
But as I learned more about parrots, their behavior and beauty became apparant to me, I started to like them. Like them A LOT!
It's not the talking that caught me, but the continuous giggling, like only amazons can do! I find this most charming! |

That's too funny dana! We all get a kick out of it when we're all talking and Chaquita joins right in and we'll laugh and she'll laugh too She'll go "ha ha ha ooooohhh"
You know Sue, I can kind of agree with you on the color. When I was researching parrots before I got one, I can say that I wasn't attracted to the green much either when you have so many more beautiful colors out there in the parrot kingdom. But their personality far outweighs their color If you ever got an amazon, you'd never regret it. Not saying they are superior cuz I have one, just that they are right up there with the rest of the best I love them all the more I learn about some of the different species. Believe me, if I had the room, I'd have an assortment |

I know my dad will get so mad that Romeo will wait till he sits down to eat and then start saying all kinds of stuff. My father wants him to speak when he ask him a question and such. I told him some birds do that I guess but not Romeo. He says what he wants to say and when he wants to say it
Today he did a "NONO' when he flew up onto the curtain rod from his tree stand. I said Romeo what did you do that for? I got the ladder and got him down and put him over in his cage. I came on back here and then hear him " uh oooo" and then he started with that laughing that only an amazon has I called back to him and said " No Romeo that is not funny, you could hurt yourself". Well he never answered me again.
Yall these birds area a lot smarter than we give them credit for dana |
