| Romeo is getting smarter |
|
|
Augh....My Romeo As soon as I take the sheet off his cage in the morning he starts. I laugh all the time at the things is he learning to say. It is like a light has been turned on with all that he is picking up. He's singing, talking and learning new things. He is becoming so smart (as he says "Smart, Smart Bird".
For while he didn't want to step up and now that is no problem. He now will sit with me on the couch and is really good about coming down to wherever I need him . He sure brings a lot of smiles to my face and I love him dearly. Dana |

Romeo is on the kick of saying " Whatja do that for" and "Hello little bird". This morning on his songs he said "Old McDonald are you a good boy?". Needless to say you get an idea of some of the things that I tell him all the time He's heard me say "Ohhhh Newbe" when my sun starts fussing so now Romeo says that too. It is so funny. One thing tho I am surprised that he is not calling the dogs as much as he hears us do that Dana |

It's so much fun watching them learn and laughing all the way! I love how they put things 'together' on their own. LOL
My Amazons have learned to sing "You are my Sunshine" and it's a chorus when they all get going. When I sing it with them, the words are correct - or most anyway.. but I about died of laughter one day..as I heard my YNA Billie sing .. You are my sunshine, you are my Kathy (me) - you make me happy - when skies are gray... etc! It was so cute! I thought oh no! People will think I taught her that - TOO FUNNY!
I completely related to Old MacDonald are you a good boy? It made me really laugh! Congrats on having an amazon and being so great to him and with him! |

That romeo sure does sounds like a goofball when he's talking, just just my Apollo!! LOL. I haven't quite taught him how to sing though, I might have to try that out!!
Kathy, your story of billie singing really cracked me up! That is just so hilarious!!! If I didn't know any better, I WOULD have thought that the owner was so vain that she had to teach her bird to sing like that!!! LOL... My Cockatoo Apollo mixed words up too, so I get 'hell boy' going all the time at home instead of hello or good boy... |

Cheeta,
Oh you must try the singing thing.. I sing all the time.... and you know what's really great? They can sing 'off key' like me. And I'm a terrible singer, but when THEY do it.. It's HYSTERICAL and people just roll! So don't be shy, start havin a go and if you are too embarrased just tell people the bird didn't have a good ear for key LOL Most won't know the truth.
Billie refers to me as Mama...... Hi Mama, Wanna come to Mama? Pretty Mama.. the whole thing...... that is the only time I ever hear her call me Kathy LOL She wuvs her Mom I guess, because for a Yellow Nape, she sure is gentle (not generally a notorious trait for YNA's), calm and I can touch her anywhere....she lays down and we have cuddle time and she coo's with her eyes closed and sleeping while she's getting her feathered ruffled back .. it's great. My DYH's on the other hand.... not into any of THAT biz
See Hell Boy.. LOVE IT! They are all just such great entertainers, and I think that all of us are much more enriched owning and caring for our FIDS.
Remind me to tell ya how I got Billie (I just posted in the Poicephalus forum about how I got my Senegal)..... you'd never know it by the way she is with me now LOL
Dana, I love teaching them new things. And I love it that they learn so quick and often 'mumble things til they feel they have it right' before they say it. Often in their sleep. We used to do 'ride the bicycle with Billie... and she's make us roll.. she'd be in her cage, on the end of her cement perch moving her foot as if she had it on an imaginary pedal! LOL |

I would love to be greeted in the morning with lovely songs In fact, I've always wanted a canary just because of their beautiful bird song!
But I am always greeted with a very loud & somewhat demanding "Hello Mama!" from Manu But it never fails to make me smile! |

LOL Cathy!
I can't say they wake up singing to me, that is in the afternoon loud party time when I'm not in there that I get that special song. She never 'sings it to my face'.. well the 'Kathy' version anyway.
I get Good Morning or Good Morning Mama from 2 of them... then my friend came up from NC to see me and she was determined to teach my youngest Amazon to say "Morning Glory, Hey ya'all doin alright?".. she was there all of 5 days and we were moving at that time.. and the last day.... he's (Babe, Magna DYH (male)) in there Morning Glory, Hey ya'all doin alright? She missed it the first time, and I busted a gut.. oh yeah Cheryl, he won't learn that I love it now, makes me smile - I always think of her when he says it. |

I love when Romeo says "Mama scratch scratch, ohhh good scratch scratch".The other day Romeo ask me " Are you a bird". I think he was wanting to say "are you a good bird" and forgot the bird part LOL. He has the cutest laugh and when my husband is home by hiself and back here on the computer he said when Romeo imatates me clearing my throat it sounds just like me and my husband thinks Ive come home (LOL). Romeo is so cute when he calls "grampawwwww" my dad just loves that What company this bird is I just love being owned by him
Newbe is picking up the "good bird" and I think it sounds like he is getting it from Romeo rather than me.
When we try to sing Old McDonald Newbe will start with the Quack quack before we get to that part I'll say "not yet Newbe not yet". Look at all the fun we have with our birds
Im off to work talk to yall later...dana |

That's fun Dana he sounds like he is a BALL! I love them that they are so smart! My cousin heard them all during party time in the afternoon and said Kathy they all sound just like you! I said uhhh yeah who do you think they learned from! So when the phone rings.. the birds say Hello before I answer it and then again After I answer it - so people think we have an 'echo' on the phone! LOL Lucy (DYH-F) has taken to talking in the 'echo' of her food dish, and hubby thinks it's to mimic me! LOL They make me laugh so hard.. and I'm probably gushing cuz I am on vacation and missing them right now. Sigh.. sorry about that.. I'll shhh now. I need a pet store fix - go in and flirt with the birds here LOL
Have a great day at work Dana Be safe and I think you have a great bird! |

It is sooo funny when Romeo has his head in his bowl and is talking too. I always ask him what is that?
I have my birds on my answering machine, well Romeo is talking. I think people just hang up cause they think I have laid the phone done to see about the birds, then I come on and tell them the number and who they have called and to leave a message. Dana |
