thats true...unless you get very close to the Amazon, you won't be able to smell their unique scent
the same cannot be said of the macaws though
my baby has a spicy macaw smell that permeates large parts of the room quite easily
I believe its due to the size of the bird and so proportionally, the smell's stronger
yeah...its more an issue of the lining at the cage bottom
for me, I smell the rotting vegetables and fruits more
so I have no choice but to change the newspaper linings often

With fruits and veggies you want to remove them after about 3 hours because they can attract nasty bacteria that you don't want your bird to eat and can make them very sick. Any moist food for that matter.
