Getting a Rosella, what should I get before she arrives?  Reply with quote

I have never had a bird in my life other than a chicken, but really liked an Eastern Rosella I met recently. So, I traded a puppy for her. She will be coming home to me in early May and I really could use some help getting what I need to make her happy, and of course LEARNING what will make her happy. Shocked

A little about her....her name is Bella and she is 3 years old. She was tame until her previous owner quit messing with her about 6 months ago. She apparently has other bird friends where she lives now. My home has dogs but no birds. Luckily the home she is in also has dogs and they don't bother her.

What kind of cage should I get for her and where can I find it at? What should I have in her cage before she gets inside it? Is there anything in particular I should know before she arrives? I've been reading up on them, as I am very excited to have her here with me. So, I know a few things, but not enough to amount to anything, especially since I've never owned a bird before. Is there anything she absolutely CANNOT eat? Hum....I'm lost...please help me!! I want her to be happy with me. I am home all the time except for store visits and such. So, I've got all the time in the world for her...now I just need to know what to do with it!! Laughing

Hi there and welcome to fluffies! Congrats on your soon homecoming rosella! I'm sure that name will fit her perfectly. Very Happy Rosellas are beautiful birds.

Here's a link where you can order cages online: birdcages4less.com (If I'm correct) I'd get a large cage in which she can exercise. Rosellas have long unhandy tails.. Wink
She cannot eat: chocolate, caffeine, advocado and some other things. If you read this forum: http://www.fluffies.org/en/par.....s-vf1.html you'll find many topics about food.. Cool
