Hi... My Senegal Parrot has stopped sitting on her eggs, well her last cluch anyway.. So I went out and got a stiroform incubatior.. But it is just dry heat.. My question is should I get the fan that can go with it for circuluation heat?
Thanks |

How long has it been since they have had a vet check? If she was producing that many eggs, and that often, I would be very concerned about the hen. She may not have sat because she doesn't feel good, or sometimes parrots get confused between pet and breeder behavior. I don't know, but my personal suggestion is that when she lays, back off - don't do any 'pet stuff' like scritching heads, holding them etc.......back off and give them private time during this time. UNTIL they are ready to pull for handfeeding. Yes you have to check to ensure she's sitting but in my view, that's all the disturbing that should be necessary (obviously servicing the cage, food, water etc.. included in that).
Incubating is tough, it's not just about heat (steady), it's about humidity, rotating the eggs etc... that's why I encourage you to let the hen try one more time 'undisturbed'.
Good luck on this, and your Sennies are beautiful Demeter, I see the softer side too |

Thanks so much for the advice.. I will give them more privite time.. I agree that its better for the hen to sit on the eggs but I do think it might be here age too.. |
