I have a male that I have had for four years and recently adopted a female.I kept them seprate, knowing that if she didnt like my male,Zazoo, she would hurt him.Well i noticed that she had pushed her grate out of the cage and was tearing up her paper and laying in it.So I e-mailed a wonderful person who told me that I should put them together because she was ready.
Well after just two weeks we have four eggs!!!!! I am so thrilled ! the eggs are now a week old so I thought I would candle them to see what I could see.And I think I'm gonna be broken hearted.
My question is , I see air bubbles in one egg,yet there is a dark blob.Is this normal? and I dont see any vains. any info given would be greatlly exepted~ |

Hey Diz-awn...
I don't breed birds, so i'm sorry I can't really help you with what eggs looks like at one weeks old. But I would recommend taking the cracked eggs out. As it is no good anymore. Other people might have better knowledge with breeding. Good luck to you. I hope the eggs are furtile....
Cheers

Hi diz-awn!
Welcome here! I hope you'll enjoy your time here..
I don't know much about breeding, but other members here probably know a lot more!
Have you seen that you can also make your own homepage & diary for your birds?
Please follow the link below to find out how! (I'd love to see photos he he he)

Hi diz-awn,its hard to say with out looking at them my self to be sure..But don't worry, the incubation period is between 22-24 days (give and take one or two days ) days before they hatch, they lay between 2-6 eggs.It won't hurt the parents to sit on the eggs for this period of time if they are unfertile. To be safe give them 25 days nesting and if you have a gram scale handy that is one way of finding out if you aren't sure by weighing an egg now then weighing it after 20 days and you should have an increase in weight if it is fertile. Also if they aren't fertile now thats nothing out of the ordinary, l have a pair of Cockatiels that lay eggs and are not fertile 2/3 times.Don't be sad for unfertile eggs for there is no life in the egg and the new pair will learn from the experiance.Keep us updated on how things are going with your new pair.Buy the way have they one of two nest boxes in the avairy the reason l ask is they like to choose there home this way.
