shredding  Reply with quote

I didnt know where to put this post but here goes Very Happy Yesterday I noticed Poppet shredding the newspaper in the bottom of his cage Confused he has NEVER done this before and I wondered wether it could be something to do with nesting/breeding Question I don't know wether Poppet is male/female but I was thinking of getting him DNA sexed Question does this mean my little guy is a girl or could he just randomly have discovered the joys of shredding Very Happy I have given him paper to shred and he has never seemed interested

Hmmm is Poppet shredding in the corner of his cage? (Bottom?) Iago does that too at times. It's the sign that love is in the air again. He can get quite grumpy then and sometimes it announces hormonal plucking. Rolling Eyes

I'm not sure if this if typically male behavior!

Gemma, I'm not sure if he'll go in 'shredding mode' if so, and if he's getting grumpy, please make sure he can't reach the shredding material anymore. It might sound mean but they can get pretty frustrated!

Hi Gemma and Sue. This same question goes for me too. I have a Moustache Parakeet that is doing this as well. There is no mate. When I greet her she tends to climb down into her corner and make these cute little sqeeks. She lets me into her space and does not have a problem with me there, she clims up on to my finger and all is well. I just assumed that she is inviting me into her nest. According to Zazoo I am her mate. Should I get her to stop this behaviour and how long does it last? Confused
