| A Budgie in the shower :D |
|
|
I don't have any photos!
Yesterday when I was bathing, my Budgie Laker came into the bathroom as well, to enjoy the big mirror & play on the shelf. I spritzer him with water from a plant sprayer until he's all wet & then I lie back & enjoy my soak. When I'm finished i have a light shower. When I'm 'preening', Laker does too. My husband said it was very funny to see us both working on our feet at the same time.
You know what they say about Canadians - they use a lot of water! I remember my friends in France & England being appalled.
Well as I was saying
- Yesterday, as I was just finishing my shower, Laker flew to my shoulder. This is the first time he's even gone near the bath or shower. Of course I immediately turned the hot water down
- thereby getting a cold shower
- you know how hard it is to control the water temp?!!! He stayed with me & clung to my hair. I tried to get him to check out the water but nothing more adventuresome happened.
So that's it - it was fun.
I hear about different birds having a shower but i never thought I'd be showering with a Budgie! As he barely tolerates the misting & has shown no interest in bathing in bowls or sinks, I was really taken aback [surprised].
I'm sure other's have fun bath & shower stories too.

Hahaha! I can understand why you don't have pictures
I'm surprised that Laker hasn't shown any interest in bathing in a bowl. I always thought budgies loved bathing like lovebirds.
I had a shower with my African Grey, Bunny, this morning. She is not nearly as adventurous as Laker In fact she hates showers, but I do take her in every now and then because she's so dusty! Usually I let her sit on the shower head while I'm washing my hair and stuff, and she sings and is very vocal. Then just before I finish I pick her up and hold her under the water. She screams and throws a fit and tries to climb up my arms with her sharp nails! OWCH! But she gets over it as soon as I turn off the water and starts clicking and whistling again. |

For Laker, I think a lot of things are new. His past life must not have given him enough experiences. I have yet to get him into bathing. He does groom himself quite a few times a day.
Guess he must think 'spit' is all that's required!
He is getting pretty confident - or should I say more confident every week. He flies around all day - is very active. |

Hahah! that made me laugh!
Don't forget also about their preening gland, very effective in conditioning the feathers |
