what's 20f in centigrade? I have outdoor budgies here, and most the time they are ok outside. Mind you, the weather here doesn't go below 0C, and even then it's early in the morning, like dawn that it gets that cold, then on coldest days, it really only gets to around 4C a few days of the year, otherwise it hovers around 10C usually. So we have very warm days. on colder days, I have plastic cover that goes on the aviary to stop the strong wind and all that.. if it gets too windy, I usually consider bringing them inside.
20F sounds very very cold.. does it stay that way during the day? or is that like the minimum during dawn/night time? if thats like the maximum during the day time, I would think that it might be too cold for the poor things. |

That's quite cold. I wouldn't do that.
Birds at least need a frost free night shelter. |

Sorry, that's too cold for them. Budgies are tropical birds they live in Australlia so they are kind of used to warm weather, I'd suggest that you take the budgies outside when the weather get's a little warmer.
( Not exactly sure what exact temperature would be good for them, but yesterday it was 80 degrees out and I had my budgie out) |

Budgies aren't actually tropical birds.. they are more deserts birds living in the arid centre of Australia near/next to waterholes (billabongs) in the very very hot temperature during the day, and yet very very cold temperature at night. So they can stand the cold, just not a long long period of time... |

My aviary budgies are outside year round, no heating.
They have a frost-free shelter, and i put bubble wrap up on the sides to stop cold wind on them. They're fine. I think it maybe have got down to -4 or colder! |

I think it just matters what temperatures they have been accllimated to. When Bih says the Budgies in the wild can stand very hot and very cold weather, that would be more than our pets can stand, because our pets are not acclimated to that sort of weather extremes... our little pets are more wimpy Just like us probably compared to our "wild" caveman ancestors who had to either live or die in the harsh environment
