Bellamy spoke alot faster when first started (like he was nervous) but he goes at a much more normal pace now. I think the key is consistance on your part. When ever Bellamy say something I say it back in my reply; it's really helped his clarity. For example:

"I wanna eat! You too eat!"

"You want to eat lunch? Well, we'll both eat soon."

"We too eat."

"Yes, we'll both eat."

Aww, Bellamy sounds very smart!! Yes, sadly most of them are kept in tiny cages all day with only seeds to eat, and not a toy in the cage Crying or Very sad because they're cheap.

I know, it's terrible Crying or Very sad . I'm just glad there are people who DO understand budgies. I hope more people will learn from us. I'm VERY proud of Bellamy (How could you NOT know!?) and I love to tell people about him!

BTW, my aunt was amazed to find out that "...A little parakeet could do all that!"

Oh! Maybe there is merit to that after all.. I never really tried having a conversation with my previous bird anyway, so maybe thats why I thought he wouldn't learn what the words meant Razz Bellamy sounds like a little smarty Very Happy

i think some of Bellamy's smarts come from being read to. I've read to him ever since I got him and we still read almost daily. It's funny because he likes to read to me to: he will say "Me too read" and then look at the book and budgie babble Laughing Laughing !!!

if the camera washes him out, I guess that could mean hes a boy.

but just for the record,I pale purple cere means girl I think. And also I think girl birds can mate with things like people, toys and so on.

John I didnt know about that, the school teacher never told us that part! lol

Sue, you mean my fig? oh, she hardly ever talks Crying or Very sad she said "Whatcha doin?" once, and "Pretty Bird" a couple times. She loves her bird calls (especially the toy robin) and does them a lot, but is quiet whenever I film her!!

I'm going to video tape my friends budgie. He can say "Hello Pretty Bird" "kiss kiss" and "whatchadoin?"
