| Fighting? :( |
|
|
Hi all,
I saw Figaro and Aloha fighting today. I'm really worried. It was when Aloha got closer to Figaro, fig would try to bite him. I'm really sad, I thought it would work out. My parents won't let me put them in separate cages.
I'm really worried about them. I just clipped Aloha's wings better, do you think maybe fig is picking on Aloha because of it? Aloha can still flutter, and I'll let his wings grow in after training.
Any help?

How long were they fighting for? I know my previous budgie (who had a partner for a little while, my brothers budgie) would have tiffs with his g/f.. she usually won However I'd be concerned if the aggressor was continually chasing the other around the cage.. |

Haley,
Budgies are aggresive birds by nature, We have one budgie in a flight cage with 4 tiels. You know who rules that cage, snowball the little budgie kicks anybodys but who even things about doing anything. Even bonded pairs fight. I would not worry unless it is excessive.

Our two conures are in the same cage and they have love spats all the time. One minute they're fighting the next minute they are preening or feeding one another. I do hope they aren't knock down drag out fighting.....that sure wouldn't be good.... |

Hi Haley,
don't worry about your budgies fighting too much, I see that ALL THE TIME with my indoor pairs... (2 males, and 1M/1F). Budgies have lots of little spats if they get in their way... my boy and girl pair are the most inloved budgie pairs I have, and yet they fight over the tiniest of things like who gets to sit on their fav swing.
One thing though, can I ask how big is your budgie's cage in terms of dimension wise? they do need their own space at times. and also just keep an eye on them, though I'm not too worried about it, but I would keep an eye out just to make sure that no ones draw any blood! |

thanks all.
It wasn't that long. Aloha loves fig but fig tolerates Aloha. Fig will nip at Aloha if he gets too close. He'll keep going closer even tho fig is nipping at him. Usually he'll just puff up a little and sit near her, and she'll just open her beak, pin her eyes, and if he gets any closer she'll nip at him. She doeasn't chase him or anything.
thanks again,
Haley |

Hi Haley
are you sure he's a he? generally girl budgies will tolerate boy budgies very well but not girl budgies when they are first introduced. May be Lolo is really a girl and they are just slowly getting along with each other.
But mind you, I have a girl budgies who wouldn't let anyone go near her for the longest of time, and now she's one of the bosses in my aviary full of budgies!! she's also the youngest in there at the moment and she runs the aviary.. hehe |

It sounds like an ordinary little spat to me Perhaps they're even testing each other to find out who's dominant enough to be king of that cage! My Speckles (the first) was absolutely smitten with his g/f, he adoooored her but all she showed was tolerance, and - when he really wanted to cuddle with her and she was not in the mood - annoyance my poor boy ended up rather henpecked |

what made me mad was that I had some great vids of Fig playing on floor but it disapeared when I was uploading |

If you want, you can take a pic of your aloha and the face/cere.. I can generally tell a budgie's sex from about five weeks of age.. I've been helping my friend with her babies. she's a breeder that has a lot of budgies. |
