| HELP My parakeet is missing |
|
|
As of right now I can not find my beloved budgie named Micky. I love my parakeet so much! Any advice on where to look or how to find her? I have not heard any sounds or movements in the house, even with all tv's off etc. I even played birdie sounds from the computer to try to get her to talk with no luck! I remember seeing her on her perch preening herself and then I put my dog outside which is in another room. The only thing I can think of is she somehow flew outside without me noticing, which doesn't make sence to me. I don't see any feathers anywhere either. I am so sad. |

Sarah,
I lost one of my budgie Bluey that way one day... and I looked and looked and looked, and I couldn't find him anywhere.. I was so upset.. But then I decided to look again, and I found him behind some curtains and he couldn't get out of it and he was too scared to make any noise.
May be you baby is stuck behind somewhere, and little gap somewhere where it gotten to and is too frighten to make any noise!! Look behind desk, curtains, couch, fridge even. I hope you find Micky!! If you're sure that it didn't make sense how Micky could have gotten out, He's in the house somewhere. good luck Sarah.
Let us know how you go please.

I am still looking and still shocked and confused. I haven't even let my dog inside the house yet. Just the thought of all the what if's make me so sad. It has been a few hours with no luck. I'll keep you posted. |

Oh I'm so sorry. Have you tried calling for him outside, and listening for him outside? Just in case he did fly out? I hope Micky is still around somewhere. My fingers are crossed that you'll find him. |

MICKY is BACK HOME IN HER CAGE!!!! I have an unbelievable story. My son and 2 of his friends took my dog for a walk. My soon heard Micky chirping and found her high up in a tree about 1/4 mile away from our home! One of his friends rushed my dog back to the house to tell me and I handed him a small cage to bring back to the spot. Then I jumped in my car and found them. MICKY looked proud perched up in the tree but she was cold (it's windy and getting chilly here in Maine) and hungry. I knew she wanted to get down but she was scared. My son was up in one tree holding her cage out, I was on the ground with my arms out and holding a long thin branch. After about 15 minutes she flew over to another tree and we started the process over again. MICKY quickly worked her way down a long thin branch and jumped onto my sons friends shoulder. Then my son opened the cage door and she went right in. I AM SO HAPPY!!! She imediately looked for food and was weak. She is now resting in her cage and has eaten some millet. NEXT time she leaves her cage will be to the vets to get her WINGS CLIPPED. I was questioning the idea last week because she has been flying in the house and I was worried she might hurt herself, but now that this event has happend I know it will be in her best interest to get her wings clipped. I STILL can not fathom how she was able to fly over me without me noticing. I LOVE HER and am very fortunate to have her back. She would have definately froze tonight if we didn't find her. She definately beat the odds! UNBELIEVABLE! |

Like you I am stunned! It is something you would see on a "Pet Miracles" show....She looks to be in great health so far and she has an appointment tomorrow to get her wings clipped. She has been very tired and "not her playful self"...lot's of napping and lot's of stretching!! She has been nibbling her food when she is awake. It will be about 20 degrees tonight here in Maine. I am so glad she is inside and warm. Thank you for thinking of us! |

You know, I sigh with relief now that all is done, but I imagaine it was kind of neat seeing her in the wild like that. Oh, I know how you must have felt! First just heart sick, then awed, then just about sobbing with relief!
I have to tell you, my macaw, Manu, flew off once last summer as I was taking him to his outdoor cage. It was just terrible!! No one could help me, I called the fire dept, the humane society, someone else ... I finally ended calling the tree trimmers, & after a long, gut wrenching day of running through all kinds of back yards from one tree to another I finally got him! That was well over a year ago, & to this day, I am still absolutely amazed that I ever got him back from that ordeal! And I thank the good Lord above! It was just terrible! And his face was pretty scratched & he was very upset & panting when I got him home, & I was so worried, but it didn't take him long at all to get back to normal.
BUT, I will never forget the complete awe I felt at watching him soar, not just fly, but soar into the very tallest tree way accross the street - it was a breathtaking, beautiful sight I hope I never see again!
Give Micky a hug for me |

Oh Sarah I'm so glad Micky is home safely! It's amazing how those birds can fly pass us and out the door without us noticing. |

| Thank you all! Micky Update and more!! |
|

First I have to thank everyone who took the time to read my story and to those who offered their support to me. I was so upset the only people I knew would remotely understand were the people here at Fluffies!
Micky had her wings clipped today and is doing well. Our vet also couldn't get over the story. He said she is one of the tamest parakeets he ever worked with.
The other news is I have a new addition to my family! I bought a cockateil today! It is a young male. I was looking through the classifieds as I usually do at work and came across a person looking for a home for their bird because they didn't have time for it. Maybe it is all of the emotions I have been going through have gotten to me. I was imagining this poor bird all alone with no love.....I called, and fell in love right away when I saw him. As if I could go just check him out and then leave...I had to take him home!
I'll write more of my new cockateil's story as well as my keet Micky, in my homepage soon, and i'll add some new pictures.
Thanks again and this site has made me laugh, cry and heal....Fluffies Rules! |

OMG Sarah! That's GREAT news! Well, the old parronts certainly found a nice new home him, I'm sure! I'm looking very forward to seeing some pics of him Oh, I bet you're just having a great time getting him settled in, watching him
Well, I'm personally glad to hear you had Mickys wings clipped. I know some people don't like the idea, but after a miraculous outcome to a near devastating incident, it kind of makes you think twice & become more aware of the "ifs" I guess. Just keep in mind that you still have to be careful. They can still go places even with their wings clipped, as was the case with Manu!
Have fun with the new one! |

Ohhh Sarah, that is such a big compliment, the one your vet made. You must be shining! LOL! I would do so!
The vet I used to go to always has a special place in her heart for Iago. SHe also defended the love for birds when her assistent didn't understand the love for birds. In irritation, she said that it'd amaze her how strong the bond is between a bird and its owner.
Sorry, I'm babbling on here and get carried away!
Did you buy a cockatiel? How cool! What is his name>? Do you have a name yet? CONGRATULATIONS!
Please tell us MORE! (Perhaps in the cockatiel forum?) |
