Hope is out of quarantine!!!  Reply with quote

Well, Hope is out of quarantine!! YAY!!! She's now moved in with her 'big sister' Lemon!! Smile Lemon has been such a champ to share her big cage with Hope. You see, female budgies can get quite territorial about their cage and gym, but not Lemon... She even gave up her favourite swing so Hope can sleep on it!! Lemon is just such a little sweetie.

Hope has been very cheeky as well actually, it's amazing that Lemon hasn't turned on her yet!! LOL. She'll fly with Lemon wherever Lemon goes ( I think a wing trim is in order for me to tame her properly!!), and Hope also tries to reach down from the perch above to tease Lemon. Poor Lemon can't have a quiet moment to herself!!! LOL

Well anyway, I've taken some pics, but don't have time to unload it yet. Will do that sometimes. Smile

Cheers
Bih

yeah Lemon has been such a little angel to Hope. Hope was actually hovering/flying around in the cage yesterday, Lemon didn't know what to do!! She's never hovered before, so now seeing Hope doing it, I dont think she knew what to make of it except to stay out of Hope's way!! LOL...

I'm at work now, so I'll have to do the photos when I get home later. Smile

Oh the pics are great! And well worth the wait to see them Very Happy
Wow, there really is a big difference in size! I can't remember if you mentioned anything about Hopes possible age, but is she real young? Course, if she was out in the wild for awhile before finding you, maybe she was just not eating well, plus exercising a lot. But they both look so happy & healthy, & just beautiful together!

Glad you enjoyed the pics. I'd say from the look of her since she's only just starting her first molt, she would be around 3 months old when I first found her.. that's a guess, as not all budgies first molt is at 4 months.. hehe...

She is quite small, it could be that she's been out and not eating well, but when I found her, she didn't look like she was doing too badly as her keel bone was still quite full of muscle around it. I think she's just a naturally small bird. She should hopefully grow a little more. My Kiwi was about Hope's size when I got her, but she has grown a bit, so she isn't too small now. Hopefully Hope will be the same as well.. Smile

Here's a pic that shows a bit better the different in the two of them... A Fatty And A Stick!!

My friend's budgie is very small as well. The smallest I've ever seen but such a cutie! I have a weakness for smaller birds..
