| Speckles had an accident :( |
|
|
Well today Speckles2 was very antsy for some reason (wouldn't relax) and something startled him and he flew around the room and smack bang into the mirror! Twice!! I got a hold of him to take a look and I noticed his cere seems to have a 'layer' scraped almost off.. I didn't touch it cause I didn't want to hurt him.
I checked on him later and now the spot that is scraped looks like it has blood on it - but its not bleeding as such, just under the cere or something (like a blood blister?). I'm going to keep a close eye on him.. although he seems fine - I gave him his seeds and he ate very heartily, then finished off by wiping his beak thoroughly on his perch, so I'm sure its not causing him pain. Right now he is contentedly nibbling away at his toy, but I'll still keep a careful eye on my kamikaze budgie! |

They certainly can scare us cant they.
When i came home a few days ago Tux my tiel had broken a nail and the cage was full of blood.
I hope speckles2 is ok and stays like that. but the little buggers are very resilient so dont worry to much. |

I guess it's like with little kids - they always fall and scrape their knees and yet we wouldn't prevent them from running around and having fun because of it.
I'm glad little Spec is OK though |

An update on Speckles2: He is still acting fine this morning, I looked closely and it looks like that bloody spot is a little smaller today. Hopefully today he'll decided to fly *away* from the mirror Right now he is having a nice little chirp to himself after a good brekky (breakfast) |

Aw, poor little Speckles that sounds exactly like the blood blister my Pistachio got, see last photo on this page http://www.fluffies.org/en/flu.....ry_id=1529 But I don't know how Pistachio got hers, I found her like that in the morning when I uncovered their cage Speckles will be ok though, I don't think he's in pain. But the blister may last a while, Pistachio's had hers for like 3 weeks. The beak just has to grow over it. I have one of this blood blisters on my foot where I banged it, and it's been there for like 2 months but it doesn't hurt. |

I'm sorry for my terrible late response..
I'm glad to hear that Speckles is doing ok. I can imagine he gave you quite a scare.

Another update: The little blood spot is gone! He is now very careful when flying around the mirror, and is getting very agile with his flying skills |
