| Wild budgies |
|
|
Hi to the Australian members.. I was wondering if you'd ever seen wild budgies. If so, are they all green? Or are there also mutations? (Escaped from aviaries/ homes?)
Would you have photos for us?! |

I never did see them wild.. I think I lived a bit too close to the coast for their liking. The ones on TV documentaries were always green though |

You never saw them?
I think they always use green budgies because they don't like the mutations?? |

Don't mean to seem harsh but I don't think a bright blue budgie would last very long in the outback - a bit too bright and easily spotted! |

I have never seen 'real' wild budgies before. I've seen escapees, but they don't count.. hehe..
and yes I think Yupra is right that blue budgies are generally seen as weaker ones, and believe it or not, budgies would kill them off in the wild as they attracts predators to the flock. Very sad situation. |

Yeah that's true! However, there are also mutations of other parrots surviving?? |

lol... well if only those budgies don't live in the desert, then I would have had the chance to see them!! Those cockatoos are too brave.. they come into the cities, and hang out there.. hehee... I'd love to see wild budgies one day.. but who knows if that'll ever happen. |

I don't think it's about being brave.. hehe... I think they just like the big waterhole out in the desert better than city life.. hehe..
No, I don't think I've ever seen Major mitchells in the city... they are however some places that apparently the major mitchells do flock to that are close to a bird observatories, but this observatories is like a good 20 hours drive from me... hehehe.. so no going there anytime soon. |

yeah, I have heard of one escapee somewhere in Perth, but I haven't seen it myself. one of my work colleague had seen it and told me about it.
One day I might get to that bird observatory, but until then, no wild MM2 for me to take pics off yet. hehe |
