| Ziggy Update 3-14 |
|
|
Well he has been here one week today. He and Mac I think will be buddies they already talk to eachother.
Ziggy is very into everything, and is scared of nothing. Which is good, because my husband built this great play gym and Mac dosen't even like it, but is going to go on it soon, because Ziggy is all over it! Here is a picture of Ziggy on his new playgym.
He is use to eating 3 warm meals a day, and will eat everything in addition to his pellets, and squacks and flaps his wings when he wants food... mac sometimes thinks there is something to be alarmed about and lets us all know.
Ziggy is also getting louder in his noises, but i'm sure mac incouraged that one. She goes off when the garage door opens, and now Ziggy does too. Both of them wanting out when mommy gets home, eventhough they have been out with their daddy all day. Guess there is nothing like a mommy.
If you have any specific Caique questions, I think that i've figured out Ziggy enough for the time being, and would be happy to answer any questions you may have about him... Though i'll warn you he is really silly. That picture is the only one of him ever sitting still

Hi kdoodlie!
I took the liberty of viewing the photos on your photo site! Lovely!
What does he eat, when you talk about warm meals? Things like crazy corn?
It's funny how birds can learn each other to behave in a certain way, isn't it? Iago learned Flit several things too!
Do you have the opportunity to make a movie of Ziggy?
If you have please send it to ownwebsite@fluffies.org
I can post it then.. |

Ziggy's warm meals consist of... A sweet potato mix with some pinapple and veggies and nuts. He also likes select veggies from the freezer, and something I have to cook on the stove that contains almonds, beans, and other little fruits and veggies. His favorite are corn and peas.
I'll have to try to get a good video, I made on that was 4 minutes of him running around his cage, but now at night he is pretty funny! Talks up a storm while my macaw says "kiss kiss" which is how we put her to bed. I guess she is acting like a big sister now. |

Yum yum! That sounds great.. How do you prepare sweet potato?
I rarely see them over here.
Cute your macaw is acting like the 'big sister'.. Beware it doesn't get to her head..
I'm looking forward seeing the video! |

I put them in a big pot, cut up in cubes 1" and add some water. Boil water and put lid on for a little while, and simmer. It keeps the nutrients in and the liquid can be used too! add a little pumpkin and some veggies and yum yum. It will be gone. |

| Peel the potatoes |

They could eat the skins, but if you peel them they will mush better, and it is more of a favorite. You could also use yams, but they are different and not as good for your bird. |

What a precious picture.....Look ate that muncable face... My only question is.."How Much for him...lol What a sweety! I think these little guys are adorable. My guys love sweet potatoes also..some like them mashed also and some of mine eat them in small cooked cubes..lots of good vitamins for them in the orange veggie family..I really push them and carrots, they are really good for them but then all veggies are..especially raw ones. | Ziggy eats a ton |
|
|
He eats as much as he wants, but he usually gets an icecube and a half of mash, and Mac gets the other half, because she won't eat it all. He licks the bowls clean after each meal, and now (thank goodness) he has begun eating his pellets. It appears that of the two foods we have offered, he eats the ones we are trying to get both birds off of, guess that won't be happening. But they do mimic eachother. Mac is teaching Ziggy to make soup.... great! now I have two birds who dunk food. |

You go Ziggy! (Eating those pellets) Good for you!
Luckily, Zazu hasn't taught Iago how to make soup, but Iago on the other hand DID learn Flit how to use the waterbowl as a toilet. |
