Oh, they are so cute! I really love their singing and would love to get some finches. Wish you had gotten a video of the courting ritual |

I've seen those at bird shows & pet stores & also wished to have some! |

I love your pics! Seeing them makes me remember my Gouldians that I had about 15 years ago... had about 6 or 8 in all different colors. Males only. They were in the house in a large cage, and I found that they were one of the few finches that act domestic enough to keep in the house long term. Cordon Bleus too. I also tried Purple Grenadiers, Peter's Twinspot, Painted and Red Faced Parrot finches, Cuban finches, other waxbills that I can't remember the names of... spent a small fortune on those. Even that long ago they were expensive, and I found the hard way, those species are really more suited for aviary life.
I don't know if I'll ever have finches again since I have the parrots to care for nowdays, but what good memories I have of them

Oh what money I have spent on my gouldians and have not got one penny of it back. The babies I did have born out here got eat by snakes and then I would loose my male our loose a female. It was always something Now Im down to I think 2 of the gouldians and all the rest are society, zebras and cinimmions. I had to take away all their nesting materials cause they were having babies everytime I turned around and I don't want them to do that. I have about 70 all together in the avairy. I do have a friend at work that wants 6 of the zebras so Im gonna give her some but that still is a bunch of finches out there. |

Wow, that is a lot of finches... I guess they are multiplying before you know it
They're so cute, I am so tempted to get some again, but my parrots are enough to clean after!

I wanna try and get a pic of when they are all waiting for me to come feed them. They line up looking towards the back door of the trailer. Maybe I'll try tomorrow it is really cute |

My favorite part of looking at the finches besides how cute and pretty they were, was when they sleep or rest side by side. They are so adorable when they do that!!

I remember the Gouldians weren't too hard to catch with your hand once they got a little tired. They are much tamer than the African waxbill species... those forget it, you need a net

LOL, well the key is 'they're tired'... but yeah I see little finches in the shop and all that, and man they hop around and fly around like in millions miles per hour!! too quick for me.. hehe |

The Gouldians are actually not that fast compared to some of the more wild types.
Some other exotic types I had to give up right away cause they were even too wild and spastic for an indoor flight... they are so wild they needed to be in an aviary outdoors which I didn't have.
