Is he the only baby? Is he in with the parents? Are the parents trying to go to nest again? What do you mean he looks like he's been plucked - Are the soft down feathers coming off or are pin feathers being pulled out?

he is the only baby, he is with his mom and dad, the parents don't look like they are trying to nest again and it is the pin feathers.
what i mean bye he looks like he is being plucked is there are all sorts of little red bumps on his back and from what i can remember, he used to have pin feathers on his back.
p.s. he also has 2 or 3 slitely bloody pin feathers

How old is the baby? Do you have any experience handfeeding that you can take him away from Mom and Dad? |

If you watch to see which parent is plucking the baby you can take that parent out and put it in a different cage and just let the nonabusive parent feed it. Either that or you are going to have to take the baby and hand feed it....2 weeks is old enough to take it from the parents to hand feed If you keep it in the cage with the parent that is plucking it the baby can end up with bald spots for the rest of its life. I have a tiel that was plucked as a baby and she still has bald spots on her neck and the back of her head (and she is around4-5 years old). |

Actually, 2 weeks is about the longest I ever waited to pull tiel babies. Any later than that and they could be very stubborn to get to feed. If you've handfed budgies you should not have trouble. I would try to handfeed now while you have the chance.
Did you syringe feed your budgies?

Well, you could spoon feed the baby tiel as well. Though I found syringe feeding to be less messy. Have you been watching to see which parent is doing the plucking? If you can't tell I'd get the baby out of their cage now.

At that age you would only need to feed every 2-3 hours depending on how fast the crop empties. And you would not have to feed through the night. If you do a late feeding 11:00-12:00 he would be okay until early morning 5:00-6:00. And with only one bird the feeding wouldn't take long. Otherwise you risk having your birds feather folicles damaged. He's only 2 weeks, if he remains with the parents until he's weaned he could have permanent damage. |

If you don't want to take the baby to hand feed then you have to pay attention and see what parent is abusing the baby and put that parent in a different cage. If you leave them in with the abusive parent the poor little guy could end up with bald spots for life. Let you mom read this if she is going to be the one doing all the work.
Check out this site. It has feeding a schedule.

Yea!!! I'm so glad! Good luck, keep us posted and let us know if you need any advice along the way. You'll find he'll grow so quickly that feeding really won't be a chore for long.
