| i need some advice pronto !!! |

i have 4 tiels and a parakeet 2 of my teils are hens and 1's a rooster just before christmas one of my hens started nesting she laid 5 eggs 2 of them hatched but only one survived now baby as we call it !!! is nearly 11 weeks old and has all its body feathers but has none on its head im starting to get worried because i've seen tiels younger than baby with all there feathers but baby is compleatly bald on its head im starting to wonder if maybe baby is deformed or something plus im not sure if baby is male or female all my hens have stripes on there tail and my rooster has spots but baby has both and i was told hens have stripes and roosters have spots but why does baby have both !!!! if some one could help me please do i dont know what to do with baby !!!! |

In addition ...
Sometimes the parent bird will over preen the baby. If they are otherwise looking after it - just wait until it weans. But if this is going badly then you will have to pull the baby & feed it yourself.
I am not an expert but I've read a lot about this kind of thing.
IMO Never get into breeding, if you have no idea what to expect. Get some 'dummy' eggs for next time & substitute them for the laid ones. |

I agree with HOMEBIRD, my male always plucks there head feathers, so i have 2 pull them & hand feed..
