Yep, that's what I meant Shirin. I've never had any problems with my quail eggs that I just take out.. they just spoil after two weeks... so no babies forming in eggs there unless incubated. |

the babies are alright...we've run into kind of a problem though...From the sound of things, The 3 youngest seem to be somewhat pushed aside...We're not sure if it's to prevent to older siblings from picking on them...or what.
The youngest is only about 4 days old...the older ones are right around 2 wks.
It might be situation where we MIGHT have to pull the older ones. I don't know as of right now....but I'll let you all know.
I really hope it's just the parents way of keeping them separated, but....If we do end up having to pull a few babies....I am fully prepared and ready...I'm even going to the lady that fed Aiden to get some lessons...so I can make sure I do it 100% right....
Let's keep our fingers crossed we don't have to pull though!!!! |

Lynzi, I'm sorry to hear that the youngest ones are pushed aside.. Are their crops filled?? I wouldn't jump in too soon.
I don't remember: Was this their first nest? Most birds don't do well the first time.. How harsh it may sound: If it is their first clutch I'd let them with their parents. They have to learn too.
If this is not their first clutch, please disregard my message. |

yeah...this was their first clutch...I went over to sort of "assess the situation" and I saw the younger babies were being taken care of wonderfully...but they were being trampled....so we made the decision to take the 3 oldest. Mom and Daddy were doing really well, so I felt badly about it, but I feared for the youngest babies well-being. The babies are so darn wobbly on their feet they couldn't really control who they were sititing on...
I've had them now for about 3 days, and all is going wonderfully! They eat ALOT for being so little! lol....I had syringes 2 per baby, but I didn't want to "double dip", which would sort of defeat the purpose of having separate syringes, so I had to buy SIX per baby! that's how much they eat! they are small syringes though...easier to control.
I thought I'd share some piccies of them.

OMG! They're sooo cute! They look sooo prehistoric. It's funny when you think what they'll look like in some weeks!
Good to hear that everything is going so well! |
