Hello everyone,
Here's introducing Summer Sunshine!
She's a lutino pearl cockatiel and has been with me for about 8 months.
I have a photo of her in the profile. =) |

Thank you! =)
Your Willow looks cute too! She looks kinda like my friend's tiel. Just that hers is a male with white cheek patches. |

She's a bit whiter now, which is really weird for a female :S She's meant to stay grey lol It's the males that go properly white |

Yeah... That's weird... Maybe she really is a male who took longer to mature? =X
Anyway, I just got another cockatiel today.
It's not exactly very healthy so i'm doing all I can to bring it to prime condition. Hahas.. Hopefully, it'll start to trust humans properly soon. |

She's(I think it's female) still quite wary of us, but I think it's already much better compared to yesterday. I got bit by her so hard yesterday and my finger's still red and slightly swellish now. =X
We named her Winter Sunshine cos she's much whiter than most lutinos i've seen. =) She's also supposedly born in February this year, so I think she's about the same age as Summer.
Anyway, they seem to accept each other and are currently sharing a cage, though they still keep a small distance(10 cm) to each other.
Just want to ask something. What else can I do to gain her trust?
I have already taught her the "Step Up" command and she does it willingly with a stick (she'll bite our hands). I also spent lots of time just talking to her after bringing her out of the cage and she seems to be ok with it. Am I doing ok or is there something else I should do? |

Mine was already pretty much tame when I got her, but she has behavioural problems anyway so I haven't really wanted to stress her out too much with any commands other than step up (which she still isnt sure of)
When I first got her, I fed her bits of millet out my hand to get her to trust me. Also try to let her see your hands when she's near you, it might make her more aware that she's under no harm. Obviously no sudden movements or anything.
I don't really know much more than that about bird behaviour, sorry lol I hope you get on well with her it sounds like you've made great progress already |
