| New Cockatiel |
I just got a new cockatiel. His name is Merlin (he was origonally called snowball) he is a 5-10 year old cockatiel that was rescued by a friend of mine. He spent about 5 years of his life locked in a cage about the size for a budgie or what the store sells as budgie cages anyway and he was only fed seed. His owners put him up on craigs list as a "take this bird or we will release him", along with another tiel in a separate cage (about the same size). My friend rescued them and got them to eat pellets and some veggies. She is keeping the other tiel because he bonded with one of her others but Merlin was the odd duck out and he needed another home so now I have him. He is doing great! When I got him home I put him into his new home and let him calm down for a few hours then he started to call me when he saw me or heard my voice!! I let him out and he hoped right up on my finger and even let me pet him He is right at home now and I have only had him for almost two days. He is sitting on my shoulder grooming himself as I write this. |

Thanxs everyone. He is very cute. He likes to just come out and just sit on my shoulder and hang out. He hates it when I leave the room. He hates being left alone. Poor thing. It is very hard right now because he is going through isolation. In a few weeks He will be able to meet little opal and then I will place them next to each other so they can keep each other company while I am gone. |
