Hi everyone, today was another good day, both Paleface and Butterscotch are doing great.I took some quick snaps after work of the young. For now both parents are sleeping outside the nest and Paleface came close to me when l took the nest down so l had to take the photo's in the avairy. l could see in her eye's she was curious at what l was doing but seeing how much baby poo l cleaned out of the nest she will appreciate it.It was half a cup full in three days..Both young are now getting used to me not screaming as much as they used to which is good, for l held them for a minute or two looking at there eye's and talking to them so they can hear my voice is not a threat, just to let them know l'm there friend and they just sat like they knew me. Anyway here's todays pic's taken at 5 pm

Oh Greg, they're looking so good!
I envie you so much being able to have such an experience! I would love to have baby birds to care for! You are doing such a great job. And I'm sure that both the parents, as well as the babies look on you as "friend", rather than "foe"!
Thanks for beautiful pics Keep up the great job you're doing with them! |

thanks Cathy glad you like them. And yes l feel as part of the family with these young, so l have decided not to sell or give them away for being Winter they are something special to be being growing up in opposite seasons.Once they leave the nest l am going to buy another cage(bigger) for Mylo then have them(youngsters) in Mylo's cage and train them and hopefully in time have all the gang here while l'm on site causing me grieve That means l will need more names?Since yourself and other members have shown interest you people can decide with a poll,l'll leave it up to you all. How's that |

Great idea!!
And I'm glad you're going to keep them! Then you'll know they're in the vary best of hands That would be the hardest part of breeding, having to eventually give them up Like I've said before, I know I would end up with TONS of birds!! I think eventually my hubby would be packing his bags I'm sure my 2 cats would too! |

very true when l spend time helping the young grow up by cleaning the nest and seeing then grow up day by day and they leave the nest, the
hardest part is,
l feel part of there up bringing and the worst part that hurts me.. is when l transfer the young into a cage to go to there new owners, the parents... especially the father will cling on to the wire were the young are and scream to them while l have to go but what can you do ..if i had a million dollars l would keep them all.Anyway these youngster are here to stay, so l am looking forward to many adventures and stories in the future |

OMG! How traumatic! I had not even thought about how the babies parents would react YIKES, it would be even harder to part with them than I had even imagined! |

yes unfortunately that's how it is,l don't mention this part to much to turn people off... but that's in my experiance what happens I suppose it's like us or animals loosing there young in a sense for there young. That's why l respect my birds like l would myself for they have feeling's as well but show it in a different way,it's not until you see this happen that you feel cut inside. But life must go on, so as long as l can give them a head start, then that's all l can do and nature will take care off the rest Sad as it is but awareness in communicating hopefully will show others that all creature's great and small still have feeling's but in different ways??? |

Wow, the babies are starting to look gorgeous Greg. They look almost like complete opposites in color, so cool! Good to hear that you'll keep these two, it should be interesting to see how Mylo will interact with them |

thanks Bih,Koukouvagia..prickly they are..lol..but delicate at the same time?Once they leave the nest and when they are eating on there own, they will meet Mylo in different cages to start with(next to each other). This way Mylo will know who they are and have plenty of time while l'm at work so Mylo really has no choice..he..he.This evening Paleface was settling to sleep in the nest, maybe due to the house cleaning yesterday she thought it was good to sleep in..he..he..The youngster are getting vibrant at the moment and can't stop moving around. You can hear then scurrying in the nest all the time.I might of gave them a taste of the outside world when l take them out and they can't wait... |
