well I've done some google searching and found some classified ads for white face tiels. they seem to go for half the price that the pet store sells them for. Do pet stores get them from breeders and jack the prices up so they make a huge profit? |

Breeders are always going to be less than retail. I don't think bird stores make a HUGE profit, but they have to make some of course. It's the chain pet stores (who shouldn't sell birds) who really jack up the prices. It seems like I see tiels starting at $100-120 and more for mutation colors. Cockatiels are very reasonably priced for such nice little parrots.

I have a whitefaced cockatiel, but they are quite expensive. I think they are at what you think, but you are better going to a breeder because Pet shops end up charging you a lot more. |

definitely are expensive at pet shops, I seen some on www.gotpetsonline.com and they were going for like 60 dollars. Lots of classified ads for different birds too. |

I was looking at that website yesterday too, and for whitefaced you definatly are better getting one from a breeder. I was quite lucky with mine, we knew the breeder well so we got a better deal. White faced make very cute pets though! |
