| Think its a girl!!!! |
|
|
ok i think astrix is a girl and is possibly offering herself to me........I am not sure that is why Im asking but s/he is being weird....the last few days when I go over and talk to hir s/he will get down low flaten her head bottom in the air and facing me and kind of clench and release or fan and close the tail I have just had to take her off my shoulder because she wouldnt stop even when i would distract her shed still turn around and stick her butt in my face......kind of funny but not really I am getting a bit worried at first i thought she was trying to copy my sound because while shes doing it she makes small little squeaky noises and if Im talking to her in the cage ahe will get as close as possibl to the bars and do it seems to only be if I talk in a soft kind of voice......does any one know whats going on or what i should do????? |

Hi Ksue,Astrix's behaviour can also resemble her/his affection to you,Astrix is so bonded to you he/she is showing you how much this way. Don't want to confuse you but males in the next box will do that action to entise the female in his nest at the same time the only time l have seen my female's do that arch action is when they showing they are ready for the male to mate.Mylo greet's me with and arched action everyday when l take him out of the cage making squeeking noises while l scratch his face, for he's excited to see me,then l'm not 100% sure Mylo is a boy either?. |

Well... Toby is another species of parrot so it's even harder to compare I had a pair of Red-rumped parrots just over a year ago and the female regurgitated in front of the male,in which then the male feed ..that surprised me but some parrot species l found out the female will.. With Astrix going through a moult and being young it's hard, but looking at tiels in motion video or life it makes it easier.Have you got a video of Astrix singing l can see for that would be good ,for now l'm wondering myself...he..he.. |

I will try to vid astrix tomoz I only have my phone to do it with though...... I am confused aswell because he is a quite out going bird and very mischevious which I have read is a male trait and the females are more quiet and snuggly.....maybe I have a tomboy!!!LOL |

Tomboy.he..he.. nah you'll be right, just give it a bit of time now. Astrix is moulting ,so Astrix is going through the next level so to speak. It's true that male's are more active then females though that's wild birds. When they are tame it all depend's on attention they seek,?Male or Female... |
