| Cockatoo Obedience / biting corrections |

Hey guys. New to the furom so I'm still learning where things are and what is what.
How do you guys teach your birds not to bite, or "punish" them for being naughty? do you put them back in the cage and ignore them, or is there a trick I haven't yet learnt?
Thanks! |

Hi Bonny, are you talking about real biting? Or just chewing? If a bird is very young it might chew a little; this isn't biting. |

Hey Fluffy Sue.
As in real biting. I don't have Hiro with me full time just yet as he is still being reared, and he's not been a biter as of yet. But I am curious as to how you should go about in correcting a bird's behaviour? I mean, with a dog you can lower your voice and growl and they understand straight away, but what about birds?
is it purely positive re-inforcement or is their a "punishment" as well?
...that's not the word I'm really looking for, but i guess it fits.. |
