Glad to hear tht Starion is settling in so well. Very Happy

I've never heard her scream and scream while playing, but just a short outburst like a dog barking once or twice... then some growling sounds Laughing She does scream loud before bed and while she's flapping her wings. To me, that is not really that loud though... since I know what a large Macaw and U2, M2 sound like... that doesn't even compare. I do not consider my birds loud after hearing those species Laughing

OMG you're so lucky, then again she is still young!!! LOL... I've heard those things play in the park, and let me tell ya, they let it rip!! hehehe.

Apollo gets in his screaming mode when he's playing and flapping around. It's sure aren't short burst!! He screams even louder and longer when Achilles set about chasing after Apollo!! LOL. Achilles is indeed a very cheeky boy!! hehe.

I guess I havne't had to pleasure of hearing those bigger birds in full scream mode for a long period of time. I have heard them screaming short burst... I can just imagine how bad it would be if they get into a screaming mode!! Apollo is loud enough, I can't imagine those that are louder in my house!! LOL

Well, actually... I have heard more than just a short burst Laughing It's just that she does that one a lot. It's usually when she flaps that she screams more. I am sure I've heard her loudest noise lots of times, and it is loud, but I really like it Shocked I hope my new neighbors like it too Smile I hate her contact call (I think it is?) it is not very loud, but sort of like a cockatiel chirp and it drives me insane Laughing I heard a U2 at the store the other day, and OMG, those are way TOO loud. Way louder than a Slender Billed.

LOL... I am not that crash hot about Apollo's contact call either!! it drives me mad sometimes!!! Especially in the morning if he wakes up before us and wants to come out and cuddle! He'll call out incessantly with his contact calls!! It's very piercing which is why it can get annoying when his nightcage is right next to the bed! LOL.

I think the short one that you mentioned is actually unique to the ESB....actually, I think I've heard little corellas call out too, but I've never heard Apollo or any other Western long bills call out like that. Yet... Very Happy

I wonder what Apollo's contact call sounds like...
At least I think it is Starion's contact call... that two note giant cockatiel type of chirp. I wonder if it is the same sort of sound in the WSB? I wish I could record it, but I don't have any sort of recording device Sad

My favorite sound of Starion is a really fast, sort of high pitched "hoohoohoo" like a little monkey Laughing It's hilarious to hear! Sometimes she will make a short loud scream between the sounds, like "hoohoohoo-aaaaccckkk-hoohoohoo" You just have to hear it. It makes me laugh every single time. I wonder if Apollo does anything like that? I wonder if other ESB do it too?
