| Crest up: Training? |
|
|
I am training Zazu to raise his crest on cue. But he doesn't seem to get it: When I ask him to raise his crest, he starts shaking no, with his crest raised! How do you mean cheeky? |

LOL.. I have a sure fire way with Apollo and his crest up!! As long as I have a soft toy handy... it goes up and stays up!!! LOL... He hates those soft toys! LOL
Sorry, I'm not sure how you'd teach Zazu to do it.. |

Ha ha ha you're making me laugh Bih! I know what you mean but I don't want to teach him to be agressive!
He does the same with my soft toys! |

When she was young, you could just take her and hold her wings out and then point her head up and she'd hold the pose a few seconds, but I'd say biiiiiig pretty bird and point upwards.
We did this a few times and she caught right on.

She was being camera shy, but you kinda get the picture. |

I had an umbrella cockatoo for 5 years named Calypso... I miss him dearly. Anyway, I would put my hands on top of my head and make a fan or crest and say "CREST" in an excited voice. he would get really excited, booping up and down and would raise his crest. I have alot of great pictures of him - although not electronically. I will scan them and then post them on my website. He was such a great bird .... |

Ohh Kellyanne, what happened to Calypso?
He sounded like a wonderful bird, and I just heard one story.. If you can bring yourself to scanning photos, I'd be delighted to look at them.. |
