picasso has taken to being really affectionate lately, ever since we moved, he always wants to be on or next to me and scratched constantly. i can't figure out if this means he's insecure about his new home or if he's just content. |

Was picasso adopted? I mean, did he have a different owner at one time? He could be feeling insecure in his new home. Cockatoos are one of the most sensative birds alive. I did a lot of research on these guys, so much so that I decided that a cockatoo was not for me, being new to parronting and all. I'd keep an eye out and give him all the love and security he needs. He might think you're leaving him, so make sure you reassure him that you're not. He could simply think that you're getting him settled into his new home and leaving him. Then start gradually not letting him be so clingy. Back to the way things used to be.
I've heard some pretty wild stories on cockatoos and their sensativity to the simplest of things.
Poor Picasso My heart goes out to him, sensative littly guy. |

Shell,
I think it's just the cockatoo in him that's showing you so much affection!! i have a permanent third arm attached on my shoulder constantly sticking his head in my face for cuddles!! They all love cuddles... may be he's just happy with the new place!! LOL. Apollo would be the happiest bird around if he could permanently attach himself to me forever!! LOL.... |

Could be the new home, now I think of it he was like this when I first brought him home, he was very attatched to the pet shop owners that hand reared and spoilt him. He does get very sooky when I take him out too. Funny the very next day after I posted he started running around bating his toys and talking like nothing had happened, I think he just needed to get settled. I've been busy a lot lately too so he's missed out on his scratches in my lap while I'm on the computer, it's a sight that must look something like Dr No from the James bond movies me sitting behind a desk scratching a white(ish) ball of fluff |
